Player of the Game & The Good, The Bad, The Redden: Game #47 vs. Philadelphia Flyers

Player of the Game & The Good, The Bad, The Redden

The RulesWhat is the poll for?

You are voting for the player of the game - the one who put forth the most effort, who put the team on his shoulders, who contributed the most.

Do not vote for the player who had the best statistical game just because he had the best statistical game.

This does not mean you should not vote for the player of who had the best statistical game, but do not vote for him just because of that fact.

Who can I vote for?

You may vote for any player who dressed for the game and played at least one shift. If the player you want to vote for is not included in the poll, select "Other" and indicate in your post who you wish to vote for. In the case that I egregiously miss the player who everyone wants to vote for in the poll, I will count the votes in the thread.

What is this "The Good, The Bad, The Redden" nonsense?

It is my twist on the title of the famous spaghetti western movie, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Since multiple players may have outstanding games and you can only vote for one player in the poll, this affords you the opportunity to recognize multiple players, or a facet of the team, for their commendable play ("The Good"). This also affords you the opportunity to rip players, or a facet of the team, for their particularly substandard play ("The Bad"). Finally, just as "The Player of the Game" affords you the opportunity to recognize the best, this affords you the opportunity to commend the crème de la crème of the worst, who delivered an atrocious performance, or whose singular (or multiple) bad plays directly led to the the detriment of the team ("The Redden").

Alexander Frolov Memorial Trophy

The Alexander Frolov Memorial Trophy is awarded to the player who most exemplifies the qualities that Alex brought to the ice game in and game out. Most notable was his talent for wraparounds. Thusly, this award is given to the player who has the most wraparound attempts throughout the game.

The award tonight goes to Mats Zuccarello, with 1 wraparound attempt against Philadelphia.

The Redden is the fact that this team has not been prepared to play the last 2 nights.

MZA. Stepan was good. So was Boyle and Prust. Dubinsky was bad tonight. He needs to hit the net. Gaborik and Drury need to step up.

Player of the game: Zuccarello.

The Good: The Zucc-Step-Wolski line.

The Bad: If you don't know you weren't paying attention.

The Redden: This weekend and losing to the Habs and Flyers in the same exact fashion back to back.

Dubi blew it the last 2 nights although the team sucking until the 3rd again is the big issue......they better win 2 in a row vs the Leafs and Canes

anyone watching the post game? even Keenan calls out Drury and Gaborik! At least Gaborik after that second period benching he looked to have a mission to shoot the puck

The Good: Zuccarello, Stepan, Wolski. What a line.

The Bad: The refs "call everything in the 1st, nothing in the 3rd" scheme was supposed to be gone, wasn't it? Eff them and playing the Flyers right into their hands.

The Redden: This team's inability to step up before the game is on the line. The extreme ineffectiveness in shots. Special teams. We can't play PP for crap, we can't keep the puck out of the ******* net on the PK. We can't even keep the puck out of our own net on the PP. Gaborik, Dubinsky had dreadful games. Again.

I consider Drury a non-factor of a player, so I won't even mention him.

Felt that the two that really stepped up tonight was MZA and Stepan. But overall i feel MZA was the best tonight, played very physical, strong on the backcheck, very slick passing, and didnt make any mistakes that i saw ?

The good : Wolski - Stepan - Zuccarello
The Bad : The first 40 minutes of hockey (again)
The Redden : See "bad".

Get to work Glen and solve these missing holes...

Dubinsky - ???? - Gaborik
Wolski - Stepan - Zuccarello
Avery/????- Anisimov - Callahan
Fedotenko - Boyle - Prust - this line makes a lot of pressure but tough to see them being a dangerous offensive line

Staal - Girardi
Del Zotto(lets get him back here he has more points still than Gilroy or Eminger) - ????
McDonagh - Sauer

Somebody strip the "C" from Dreary. He's the most undeserving player to hold the title captain ive ever seen. Can't even pull the whole cliched "O he's quiet, but he leads with his on the ice play". Useless, just useless.

When Callahan gets back:

Wolski--Stepan--Zuccarello

Dubinsky--Anisimov--Callahan (great line earlier in the season)

POTG- MZA

The good: W2-Stepan-MZA
The bad: The realization that I'm really starting to hate Drury
The redden: Another brilliant 20 minutes marred by a horrendous 40.

There's no reason for doom and gloom. This team DOES have offense and doesn't need to go make a stupid trade.

They need to remember there's 2 periods before the 3rd and practice on finishing chances, or something.

The Good - The SAW line (Stepan, Aasen, Wolski), Staal, Girardi, Boyle, Sauer. The 3rd period - again... Good physical game 2nd half...
The Bad - The lousy attitude during the 1st half appears to have been bad, a couple of goals that were easily saveable (Biron was too far in the net on both #1 + #2 imo), Dubinsky´s ability to hit the net in excellent scoring position (3x!!), Gaborik (needs to step it up!), Drury (abyssmal), special teams (PP = minus one!) + two powerplay goals (basically) against...
The Ugly - The refs performance in the 3rd was really ugly. How can we get two penalties in the 3rd and the Flyers only one? INSANE! BLASPHEMY! At least blatant 5 non-calls that definitely had a decisive impact on the outcome. Deja-vu all over again...

Quote from Stepan post game - "Maybe the leaders of this locker room will start to step up..."
WOW

Drury, Avery, Dubi and Gaborik need to get this message.
This guy is a leader

Did you see Del Zotto's +/- with the Whale? he was a minus 3 in 2 of the last 3 games, he needs more time down there and will not be back here i'd venture to say until after the all star break at the earliest.

Sorry, I have to disagree on the 1st and 2nd goal
the first goal was a perfect deflection and Biron was not that deep, he was at the top of the crease and he just missed a perfect deflection with the tip of his skate.
The 2nd goal was off Fedotenko's skate and barely made it inside the post. Biron has absolutely no help at times during the first period, this game could have easily been 5-2 or 6-2 flyers.
on the 3rd goal don't know why the defenseman (Eminger i think?) just cut off the pass and left the shooter for Biron, he went to the ice way way too early.

The Good- Step, Zucc, Wojtek

The Bad- 19 minutes for Boyle and 18 for Prust is too much for guys who really can't score that often.

The Redden- too many to list
