And who was it just a few day ago in another thread that was hoping for injuries? Careful what you wish for. DAMN!!!

This injury may hurt more than anyone realizes. Fidds is integral to this team's success on the PK.

I just hope he doesn't get scratched in favor of Biz.

I'm exaggerating a little bit (tiny) but I think I'd rather have a Redwing fan post on this board than you.

I'm not really all that excited about this. And Mac is probably my favourite player in this organisation... But the chemistry this team had going was awesome. Fiddler is going to be a bigger loss than the Doaner was early on.

Brings back memories of the fights between fans of both teams in the stands last playoffs.

I think we will see more of the kid line in the next 2 games but may break em up and mix and match on special teams. BM for the PP again with Turris and Bodeker on the PK.

Week to week? Yeesh. Not good.

Good news is that I think Belanger can play Fiddler's role almost as effectively, and that Korpikoski should be able to play Belanger's role more effectively. Plus, more ice time for Turris, Boedker, and MacLean.

How's that for silver lining? haha.

I hadn't thought of that. I'd be very happy to see Belanger put on a line with Pyatt and Stempniak and let Korpikoski play with Doan and Upshall. Imagine the odd-man rushes Korpi and Upshall would have.

I don't expect that to happen, but I can hope.

It's been confirmed through a couple of interviews that Korpi is being moved to center to take Fiddler's spot.

That may not really be so far-fetched. The fact that they called up MacLean and not Ebbett means that Korpi probably will be playing center. It would make sense to put him with Upshall, as their speed would complement each other, but you could put him with Boedker for the same reason. Turris has, I believe, centered Pyatt and Stempniak on one or two occasions, so there's that possibility. Boedker-Korpi-MacLean may not be a bad idea either.

In terms of the overall balance of the forward lines, though, I suspect we'll see what's in the GDT: Korpi in Fiddler's place with the SA line back together, if for no other reason than it causes the least possible disturbance to the lineup.

It's not that bad. Pyatt & Stempniak have a decent scoring touch. I think Korpikoski can still prove soomething playing between those 2.

As long as Bissonette is scratched, I'm happy.

I was just more with rt. Belanger is not producing and probably should not be relied to do so. Putting him with Doan and Upshall is kinda a waste.

Oh don't get me wrong, I think you guys are right, but I don't think the new line-up is terrible either.

I recall a Tweet of his where he was responding to a heckler; Biz basically said, "I got paid thousands of dollars last night to destroy a hot dog and some nachos. Have fun at work on Monday." My immediate reaction was, "Keep up the good work." On a team that relies on offense-by-committee, you can't afford to have a forward play only ~5 minutes.

I'm not sure I agree with the least possible disturbance aspect. The Belanger line is clearly creating the fewest chances of the four forward lines. Belanger is a good proxy for Fiddler. Korpikoski would be a nice change of pace for Upshall and Doan. Turris trades Korpikoski for Boedker and Bissonnette for MacLean. Not bad.

Of course, it's Dave Tippett, so we'll see...

Whitney-Hanzal-Vrbata
Upshall-Belanger-Doan
Pyatt-Korpikoski-Stempniak
Bissonnette-Turris-Boedker(four mins ESTOI)

How long has Belanger been on a line with Upshall and Doan?

In the last 10 games, Upshall has 10 points (only one of them on the powerplay) and Doan has 12 points (only three of them on the powerplay). So whoever is between them isn't exactly holding them back. Maybe they just need a defensive anchor in the middle so they can feel more comfortable rushing the net?

I guess I'm one of the few that's comfortable with injury situation.

Same here. The coaching staff needs to find confidence in the younger guys and forcing them to see their play is the only way it seems like it's going to happen. I'd still like to see Korpi with Boeds though. Even Upshall with them would be electric but that's too much moving around probably since he and Doan seem to have chemistry now. Here's what I'd like to see.

Hanzal's line
Doan Turris Upshall (they looked good when they played together a few weeks ago)
Boeds Korpi MacLean (Let the fast guys make moves while Mac goes to the net!)
Pyatt Belanger Stemp (I have no problems with Frenchie playing where he should)

This line has been together nearly as regularly as the Hanzal line. They've been OK. I think Belanger brings them down a bit offensively, but he's responsible in other areas. He's a tough player to figure out... Some games I think he's really noticeable, making plays offensively and elsewhere, but other games he looks dreadful. His only consistency is face-offs, and that's big for our group.

Why is Fids even fighting when we have Biz dressed as he was last night. Just have Biz take care of it. To lose Fiddler for week to week right now is terrible. Both Jovo and Fids are injuries that occurred from rough stuff. Isn't that why we have Biz? To make sure guys don't take liberties?
