There was some hope that he'd be back by the home opener on the 16th, but it now appears unlikely. Its healing faster than it did last year, so thats a good sign. He tried to skate the last few days, but experienced some pain and stopped. My guess is he'll be back late October, early November. The last thing I want to do is rush him and expose him to further injury.

Actually, according to the articles published today, Leetch experienced too much pain to skate last week when he tried, but has been more successful the last two days (Monday and Tuesday) and was able to stay on the ice for a while and do some of the lightest of skating without experiencing an increase in pain. Leetch also thinks that--barring a setback--he will be ready around the end of October/early November.

According to Leetch:

"I guess realistically if I'm playing sometime in October, that would be great," Leetch said. "As far as playing in the opener . . . I seriously doubt it.

according to ESPN (who's hockey coverage leaves alot to be desired) leetch is out until November.
But again I reckon its best to assume he isn't going to play at all this year, that way anything he does is gravy.

I believe that Leetch is aware of his own condition--I don't need ESPN to tell me how he is or when he's coming back.
