High-Energy? Check. (When he's not ****ing blood )
Likelihood? Not very, but who knows what goes on in DW's mind.
It's not Cheechoo, although I've wanted him to be signed and called up for the past month or so. Besides, he isn't NHL right now.
The team probably isn't happy playing Mashinter and/or Desjardins, so they're going to make a move for another forward. They are going to get a bottom line forward before getting a defenseman. Go figure.
As far as the deal is concerned, I think it's well worth getting a guy to fill in. Mitchell and Mcginn were expected to step it up and make a difference on the third line and possibly more (like their early stints with Thornton), but neither has shown much improvement and in fact probably regressed if anything.
Sharks DO need forward depth, just they need a quality defenseman much more.
Jarko Ruutu would make sense. Don't know where that speculation coming from, but recall WS discussing it in another thread. Could be the type of guy who could take Mitchell's spot should he be out for a long time.
I'd love to get Jason Chimera, but doubt that's who this is referring to. Same goes for Chad Larose.
The "experienced" makes me think vet- someone like Ian Lapierre (who of course is not available and may never play again). Eric Nystrom may fit that mold.
Hopefully "high-energy" means hard-working, gritty, and great penalty killing, rather than stupid penalties.
Mayers actually impressed me so far this season. His puck handling, board play, and vision are all fairly good for a person in his role, and he only makes a little over league minimum. Can't really ask much more of him.
Jumping to conclusions. It only says he might be suspended for that hit.
Was there any other conclusion? I don't think anyone suspected anything more severe than that.
I don't think the possible signing has anything to do with Nichol per se, more that the Sharks were going to bring a forward in anyway and it might as well be now with our roster full of injuries and missing players.
