Bang for the buck (forwards with 30+ games)

$/point figures for forwards who have played 30+ games this season. I know it doesn't tell the whole story about how the player has performed, but I think it gives some indication about who is having a good season and who isn't.

Iginla 175 000$
Stajan 175 000$
Hagman 142 857$
Backlund 141 203$
Jokinen 125 000 $
Bourque 123 456 $
Moss 100 000$
Glencross 70 588$
Tanguay 53 125$
Jackman 42 307$
Morrison 34 523$

Well it would have been nice if you had actually done a good job.

Those are $/pt at this point of the season. If you multiplied PPG by 82 games, then divided them by their salary it would have been a lot better.

Iginla - $96,000
Tanguay - $29,000
Bourque - $62,000
Jokinen - $64,000
Hagman - $81,000
Morisson - $20,000
Stajan - $83,000
Glenncross - $36,000
Moss - $40,000
Jackman - $24,000
Backlund - $65,000
Kotalik - $300,000

Using PPG and multiplying it with 82 doesn't take into account if a player has been suspended or a healthy scratch, so I think it's a wrong way to measure "bang fort the buck". Pretty arrogant way to start a reply, btw.

and your way doesn't take injuries into account... both are flawed... and even more flawed when you consider other factors that can't be measured

Well I don't see how fluke injury is going to effect how good the player is. It should be judged on WHEN THEY PLAY, AT WHAT PACE DO THAT PRODUCE COMPARED TO THEIR SALARY. Injurys are flukes. I understand that you pay a player to be injured, but it doesn't seem fair and make the #'s misleading. If anything, it should be 54% (54% of the way through the season) of the players salary compared to what they have produced in that first 54% of the pay time.

Are you saying that some players aren't more injury prone than others? Bourque has played 358 NHL games since 2005-2006 season, when Jokinen has played 447 games. This is irrelevant?
