OT: Did you notice that Carle got 2 points each 10 seconds after a PP while still pretty much set up in a PP? He can't buy a PP point hahaha

He didn't look like he wanted to, but he dropped the gloves and threw a couple of feeble shots. Bad move for a guy who doesn't and can't fight, but I'm sure there are nuns and nurses that would love to get a shot at Avery. Nice call on the pp points, never thought about that at all last night.

Looked like Briere got a bigger piece of Prust than Hartnell.

Honestly with just a fine, I don't mind. Briere plays awesome when he is angry (all star snub, when his finger got cut open, etc)

Briere got a fine because he actually had to reach over the boards.

Danny Briere, who has already been suspended this season by the National Hockey League, was hit in the wallet again on Monday night.

Colin Campbell, the league’s Lord of Discipline, fined the Flyers’ centerman $1,000 for throwing a punch at the Rangers’ Brandon Prust near the end of Sunday’s 3-2 win over the Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

The fine was not announced but confirmed by a league source.

Campbell told CSNPhilly.com that only “one percent” of all NHL fines are ever announced. He said that fines accompanied by suspensions are announced because they affect games played.

He also said it was none of the media’s business.
Just read that from Timmy P.

Just to do the math.

Calculate the percentage of the fine in relation to Briere's salary this season ($7 million) and "fine" that same percentage to someone making $50000 annually, that's a $7.14 fine.

Literally: Pocket Change.

Haha, yeah. Must be nice. He did lose like $250k from the suspension though. Doesn't matter how much he is making this year, that's a lot of money.

It's a crazy amount of money to lose when you think about it.

I just hope that Campbell loses all ties he has with anyone, gets no friends and then gets pretty much chucked out of the NHL. I understand the fine, but still, even if it was unsportsmanlike, what do you think Prust did to Timonen? Baby him?

Especially if that happens to a young, up and coming player who simply got out of hand trying to make a name for himself. For someone making $750K, that's 1/3 of their salary. Granted they can still live off $500K, but that will undoubtedly cause a lifestyle change.

Prust doesn't have a prior this year if I remember correctly. I truthfully think that's the only reason Briere got anything (and Hartnell didn't).

The thing that pisses me off is Richards played wussyfoot with him, hold him accountable El Capitan, especially after the Avery-Carle incident. And good for Briere for at least putting himself out there.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the amounts are generally not fixed sums, but rather the equivalent in salary lost for games suspended. If Brière loses $750K for 2 games off, it's a bit less in that week's grocery cart, but for a 4th-liner making league minimum, it would be 1/41st of $500K, or about $12,000.

This, they ran around like f&*%en a$$holes all night and we did nothing. Prust and Avery will get theirs the next time . I would start the next game with Shelley and Carcillo and let it go .

Screw the penlaty, if you cannot kill a PK defending one of your best players then they should not be in the league. I understand the idea of not taking stupid penalties, but at some point you have to make sure guys like Prust or Avery do not take liberties with your skill players.

you think that 1/41 of 7 million is $750K?

Tops in the conference, winning games they previously would lose. I think they could have taken the chance to take care of it at the time it occurs and not wait until later. Love Laviolette, but at some point he needs to have the confidence to let Chief tap someone on the shoulder to TCOB.

Yes, he was. I do not think Prust wanted to go because he was in the end of a long shift tough.
