Blues-Senators

To St.Louis Blues- Ryan Shannon

To Ottawa Senators- 6th round in 2011

He is quick, can score occasionally, and can go up and down first to forth lines. Is a UFA with a resonable cap hit. St. Louis Blues have a decimated foward group and it is only a 6th so everyone does not need to lose their minds. Willing also to take back a equal salary 1 year foward to be included in this deal

That 6th round pick is a fan favorite in St. Louis and will never be traded unless a massive overpayment is coming back.

It's a minor deal but one that makes sense. The Blues keep getting burnt trying to sign free agents (Svatos and now Wellwood) so they might as well go the trade route.

Why Ryan Shannon though? He plays hard, can slip into a top 6 role in an emergency. Can't we just re-sign him for league minimum and use him as the 13th forward?

We need some draft pics into the system. We have prospects that can take his place and there needs to be some form of change in the dressing room. And who is to say that Shannon would re-sign for the league minimum? Shannon is getting older as well. There needs to be changes.

Our team will suck enough after we clean house that I'd rather keep Shannon. I'd give him up for a 4th now, or a 6th in the offseason.

Don't have him in the off-season as he is a UFA, hypothetically we trade him we get a new prospect into the system and than call up Corey Locke. Its only Shannon

One of the smallest players in the league, Oshie can fit him in his locker if he wants.

Agreed, of all the guys we could trade, he is near the bottom of my list. Let's have SOME speed and intensity on our team, even if we suck.

Make it a 5th and we have a deal.

He has a STANLEY CUP RING

Good proposal, makes sense too.

Good job Sens Mile

Doesnt make sense from a Blues stand point, not that im worred about a 5 rd pick, there is no room for him on our roster as he is not an upgrade to anyone we have

Yeah Sobotka already stepped into the role you're describing him for on both ends of his play.

you realize you are talking about an organization that has tried and failed to sign both svatos and wellwood? all three have scored at roughly the same clip over the last 2 seasons. you can use the other two but not shannon?

Correct me if I'm wrong here but isn't Shannon on a one way deal?

As miserly as the Blues have been during the process of finding a new majority investor I highly doubt they pay someone a full NHL salary to play in Peoria once a couple of the walking wounded get back. Svatos and Wellwood were two way deals with Wellwood's being extremely cheap if assigned to the AHL(even though he couldn't play there).

Shannon for a late round pick is a fair deal. Our front office is just in full on cheapskate mode right now.
