Can we change the title to something that doesn't make it look like Eklund is reporting Regehr was traded to Montreal?

Yea, a crap stirrer to a team that has no one to protect him. This is (if it happens, doubt it) would be interesting.

Moving Weber would allow us to move up from the 4.102 cap space to about 4.6 as he is a roster player. This could bring in Glencross, Montreal would answer 2 question marks with this deal. Up front and on the backend. They could afford both with with the cap space from this deal.

for

Glencross
Regehr
change Maxwell to a 2012 2nd and maybe... I really have no interest in him as he just provides more of what the Flames already have

Of course, no way does Regehr get traded for just a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

How would Habs fans feel about this.

To Calgary:

Eller
3rd Rnd pick

To Montreal:
Regehr

It'll more likely be guys like Kostitsyn, Weber and prospects. Eller won't be going anywhere.

So does this mean Regehr is a Hab now.... The game is over, no point paying extra travelling, just have the deal done so he don't have to leave Montreal and go with the team to Buffalo tomorrow.

Then more likely a trade wont happen between the two teams, Start and add depending on one of Eller/Leblanc/Pacciorrety(Sp?)/1st.

Or I see no real reason to trade him.

Calgary isn't trading Regehr for another inconsistent player and a young defensive player that isn't very good.

We'll see what you guys get for all of your 30+ year old players. You may get a top prospect with Kostitsyn and Weber but you're not getting guys like Eller

What do Flames fans think of Kostitsyn now? After seeing him play a full game? Kostitsyn has his negatives but he is still a 25 goal scorer

I think I have zero interest n him if the Flames are rebuilding... if the Flames go the rebuild route they need their veteran players to be of the hard working variety to help instill a work ethic in the kids... Kostitsyn is the last player I want near a rebuilding franchise

Sounds like a prototypical "Sutter type of player".

Who cares if he scored that goal last night and played well? One game does not make a player. Ales Kotalik scored like that the other night as well, and it was an even more impressive sniper shot that AK's. That still doesn't mean we want Kotalik.

I would say no to any trade involving us trading one of the best shut-down defensemen in the league for another winger non-first line winger, of which we already have plenty of.

who would you rather have teaching your prospects... a guy like say Langkow who as you would say is a "prototypical Sutter type player" or Kostitsyn... I'd prefer Langkow around my prospects 10 out of 10 times...

its not a player fitting the "Sutter mould"... its about having hard working leaders around the prospects in hope that work ethic rubs off on the prospects

I'll start with Regehr + Glencross for Kostitsyn + Weber + Maxwell + draft pick.

I'm thinking that Regehr = Kostitsyn + Weber + draft pick. Glencross = Maxwell.

Thoughts?

Are you nuts! So Calgary gives up one of their better shut down guys for a bunch of garbage. If you're going after Regehr your first round pick might be in play or a guy like Pacieoretty and that's just a start. You are not going to get Regehr for a quanity of small peices.

Well I didn't mean to make my post as a knock - in fact, forget about having the work ethic rubbing-off on prospects, I'd argue that you'd want such players on your team regardless of whether you're rebuilding or not.

Leblanc and a 1st or 2nd may be the asking price then. I really doubt Feaster has any interest in Maxwell at all. We are looking for good prospects and draft picks.

What makes Leblanc that much more of a better prospect than Maxwell?

The difference isn´t really that big honestly.

Well good then, if it isn't that big we'll take Leblanc instead. You guys won't mind, they have the same value pretty much. Right?

The "HF-value" of Jarome Iginla last summer was Malkin+ ...
Now, the "HF-value" of Robyn Regher is two first round pick (Leblanc + 1st)...
Of Course !
And I don't see why Montréal need this defensive d-man. Habs already have problem with speed at D.

They have a massive problem with not enough "sandpaper," or "testicular fortitude," if you will... Regehr adds size, grit, toughness and the ability to shutdown top line players. This gives a guy like Hal Gill a huge break in minutes and Regehr is definitely someone that would be useful for a playoff run in a hard hitting series.

The problem in Montreal is you CAN'T trade LeBlanc (the french issue) or Eller yet because of the scrutiny of the Halak trade. Other than that, I believe any prospect would be available to the Flames for Regehr's services.
