Saw Inception -- Awesome
A movie I would like to recommend is one I just finished called Un Prophete (A Prophet). It's a very interesting look at organized crime conflicting with several cultures (and languages--subtitles beware). You really empathize with the main character. I would rate Un Prophete strong to quite strong. Enjoy
Well, I finally saw Inception last night. I agree with everyone else, it was great. My first reaction is that it was one of the best films I've ever seen, the total package.
Haven't seen it, but I've heard only mixed reviews, honestly mostly on the negative/overrated (skeptical) side(?). Crazy canucks I guess, I've definitely gotta see it with the reviews it gets around here.
Section 6, row 5, seat 8, Sept 19, Charlottetown Civic Centre, PEI... that's first and foremost, but Inception is up there.
It's an English period piece set in the 30s, but it's not stuffy in the slightest. Completely accessible and downright fun. Nothing but dialogue, yet they pull it off. Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, Helena Bonham Carter, Guy Pearce, Michael Gambon, Timothy Spall, Derek Jacobi... they're all excellent. Some of them will win Oscars.
Just watched Restrepo it is a very interesting documentary about a platoon in Afghanistan's Korengal Valley mainly at outpost Restrepo, named for a fallen solider. To see the everyday life of a solider in Afghanistan is not what I thought it would be. I wouldn't be surprised to see it nominated for best documentary oscar.
I watched Inglorious Basterds again lately, that was amusing. Easy A was also a surprisingly enjoyable movie. Extract wasn't bad either. I'm going to embarrassingly put out that Going the Distance was a movie I watched today when I was bored that I did not expect to like much, but thought it was much funnier than I thought it would be. Plus it's got Charlie from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, so that's bonus points right there.

I know this is off topic but I'm not sure that I've ever seen a book thread here, so I'll just post it here and if it needs to be moved then no worries. Has anybody read 'Lone Survivor'? It's about a SEAL's story in Afghanistan when he gets separated from his squad.
I watched Blue Valentine last night,
It was an incredibly accurate portrayal of a disintegrating marriage.
The acting was next to perfect, and the dialogue was well delivered.
9/10 IMO

This was solid. Both he and Colin Firth were excellent, but for my money Geoffrey Rush carried the film. Well deserving of the acclaim.
Just watched The King's Speech and loved it. It really sucked me in. The opening speech was the torturous for me even. Definitely well acted all around.
And just like with other great movies, I have become obsessed, watching real footage of King George VI's speeches. I never realized how debilitating a stammer could be. It's really fascinating

And apparently there was a finite list of movies, cause some of these are repeated more than I would have thought.

Seeing that talk in the other thread made me bring this back
So Artist wins big at the Oscars. Did anybody else see this, I was thoroughly unimpressed. I had no big interest in seeing Hugo before, it had kind of just been there before, but I might pick that up tomorrow and give it a watch.
Hugo is terrible. It's nothing but one long self-congratulatory love letter to itself and has no idea what story it wants to tell. Sacha Baron Cohen is the only good thing about it.
