The Official Injuries Thread - READ OP FOR UPDATES

Instead of scattering the news in different threads, I thought maybe having only one thread to discuss all of tonight's injuries would be better.

Still Injured

Halpern ---> Not traveling with the team. Lower body injury?
Pacioretty ---> Severe concussion and a non-displaced fracture of the fourth cervical vertebra in his neck. May return in time for the playoffs. UPDATE: Started skating with the team.
Gorges ---> Out for the year. UPDATE: Had successful surgery.
Markov ---> Out for the year.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back in the lineup

Halpern ---> Upper body injury. UPDATE: Back.
Cammalleri ---> Separated shoulder. Out for at least 4 weeks and placed on IR. UPDATE: Skating on his own but is not well enough to start taking shots. UPDATE:Back.
Pacioretty ---> Rib injury. Taken to the hospital for precautionary measures. UPDATE: Bruised rib. Day-to-day. UPDATE: Back.
Wisniewski ---> Nasty cut on his cheek. There could be a fracture. UPDATE: Back.
Gill ---> Upper body injury. UPDATE: Back.
Plekanec ---> Knee injury. Day to day. UPDATE: Back in the lineup.
Halpern ---> Lower body injury. Day to day. UPDATE: Back in the lineup.
Sopel ---> Inured hand. Day to day. UPDATE: Back in the lineup.
Darche ---> Groin injury. On injury reserve. Day to day? UPDATE: Back in the lineup.
Spacek ---> Practicing and traveling with the team. Should be back soon. UPDATE: Back.

For Gill, in OT, it looked like he jammed his left wrist when he cross-checked a Sabre into the boards. Looked like it hurt a bit, but not sure if it's anything serious.

Add Jeff Halpern to the list. He left with an undisclosed injury as per TSN

If Cammalleri really seperated his shoulder, its not two weeks.

#canadiens pas d'entraînement demain. No #habs practice on wednesday.

Makes sense... Don't want anyone else to get injured.

I've never seen so much hitting from behind in 1 game. And only 1 penalty called. And JM just stands there, says nothing, murmurs under his breath occasionally. Halpern gets a head shot. No call. Ridiculous.

Yeah, it would be at least a month. When I had my shoulder separated from a hit I was out for a good month, and came back to play early with a lot of Advil. Not to mention I avoided the corners and big hits like the plague for the following 2 weeks.

All depends on severity of the separation - there are 5 levels I believe.

Pacioretty Update!

RealKyper Nick Kypreos
Can't believe #Canadiens luck. Cammalleri and Halpern out with suspected separated shoulders. Good news Pacioretty well enough to fly home.

#pacioretty should take the plane back to Mtl. CT scan was done to be sure he is not bleeding inside. Ribs are painfull.

Good news: #Habs Pacioretty just boarded team charter, arriving direct from hospital

Pour ce qui est de Cammalleri (épaule). Il a le bras dans une écharpe pour supporter son bras.

Translation: Cammy sporting a sling

So I'm assuming Pacioretty's lungs are okay? And it's just a bruised rib? He wouldn't have boarded the plane tonight with a cracked rib? I assume there would be a lot of swelling and it would take a couple days to diagnose a break?

ribs are a crazy painful injury. he def could have boarded a plane tonight with cracked ribs. as long as they know they are not broke to the extent they are threatening the lungs or need to be set yadda yadda.

likely just bruised though. depends on his pain threshold and additional rib protection, imho. he could play friday if it's just a bruise, though they could rest him just to be safe.

terrible night for canadians

Gorges and Markov are gone for the year. They surely should be on the list unless you're talking about recent injuries.

We really haven't been lucky these past two seasons. Not only are they longterm injuries, but they happen to very key players.

Last year he was pounded on the knee by Volchenkov. Only Dhalsim wouldn't have been injured there.
Tonight, he gets shoved into the boards from behind.

Injury prone or not, put every player in the NHL in a similar situation and I'm pretty sure most would get injured, especially the ones of Cammy's physique.

Does this make us the 2006-07 Flyers now? Without the ugly jerseys of course.

The only good news (so to speak) is that after next Tuesday game vs Flyers there's a week off.
