JVR has been playing terrifically, but hasn't been getting points on the stat-sheet. Kind of amazing really.

I was also convinced long ago that we're never going to get a shutout.

In the other hand, the Flyers have scored in 90 of those 138 periods, or ~65.2% of them.
Assuming no 0-0 ties, you would expect a shutout to occur 7.8% (.4275^3) of the time.

After 46 games, if you have a shutout 7.8% of games, you would have 0 shutouts about 2.4% of the time.

BUT Philly needs to get more killer instinct.. that's two games in a row where they build up a lead that is too fragile and let the other team get right back into it.

And still got the win. Seems killer enough to me.

Yeah, I really don't like when we sit back when we have a lead.

Great win, but I'd like to get the 3rd goal before OT next time...

no hat tricks, no shutouts this year for the flyers. and it pretty much sums this team up perfectly. This team isnt just one line or two lines, its every god damn player on the roster that makes a difference (even shelly).

They all were playing well. JVR had chances that require him to just have a tiny bit better timing and he would have cashed in. A lot of parts of his game are improving all at once, the points are about to come in by the boatload (maybe).

Carter frustrated me with a couple passes when he had open looks at Varlamov and could have shot, but he was definitely in the game. Oh yeah, and he scored.

I thought the game was going to get out of control the way scraps were forming at the end of the second period. Erskine was getting away with a ton of **** after the whistle, lots of crosschecks up high. The refs would have been in the right to call him for that and give the Flyers a retaliatory roughing. Wouldn't hurt manpower, but would stop the crap. Still, the most important thing was that they were consistent in letting stuff go.

got to do a better job cleaning up the 3rd period. The Boston game was a disaster, the Rangers scored a couple a made the game closer then it should of been and tonight they blew a 2 goal lead in a game they had full control of.
Coburn with another brain fart. I mean how do you lose Ovechkin and let him score that goal. Thankfully Mez stepped up and scored a rare goal.
Its going to be interesting how the team responds when Pronger returns.

I thought Coburn was really good against the times he was matched up with Ovy.

Timonen. 'nuff said.

Great hit and great shot by Mez. It was a very satisfying win.
Agreed on all points. Well said. The whole defense had some nice plays this game. Very satisfying win.

I facepalmed at first, but it's growing on me. Yeah, it's awesome. I bet my left pinkie toe that someone has been waiting a couple years to use that.

I said it a week or so ago, and I'll say it again. Remember two seasons ago when we didn't give up a shorty until game #82?.... Yeah. I think you see where I'm going here.

He wouldn't of had that brain fart, should the captain of the team not be trying to dangle his way through 3 players in the slot. That goal was all on Richards. Same with the first goal, all on leino. Not defensive breakdowns at all. Coburn was spectacular all night. He was playing against ovechkin all night, and made him look like a *****. Give the guy a break

Coburn was pretty good all night long yesterday. Not to mention that Ovechkin scored the goal by throwing the puck into the net with his hand. Still have no clue how that counted.

2nd was awesome. All flyers, had great pressure but Varlamov made some great stops.

3rd the caps finally started pressing, and 2 horrible turnovers (Leino and Richards) led to two quick goals by the Caps. In OT Carle made a nice pass to Meszaros who shot through a JVR screen for a nice goal.

Flyers didn't take any penalties besides Shelley's fighting major

Haha, just read that the Flyers are 3-0 when pretending to be on the road.
