Parise is my 2nd favorite Devil ever behind Elias

i know a lot of Devils fans wouldnt agree with me but whatever

Unless the Devils get Crosby, trading Parise + 1st pushes them severely in the wrong direction.

There is just no way a draft pick, even a #1 overall can make up the difference (unless there's a Crosby/Ovechkin type talent available, in which case the Devils obviously would never make the trade)
If you take out his rookie year, Parise is averaging around 75 points per season. And his last two seasons have be 94 and 82, in a defensive system no less. The knee injury is a concern, but it wasn't a major surgery and he should come back with no problem.

For cap reasons, I wouldn't trade Parise straight up for Malkin, never mind the additional top 5 pick. I'll take the 80-95 points and Selke caliber defense for ~6 mil instead of 95-110 points and lazy defense for ~9 mil. Just a personal view though.

Edit: not saying Parise is better, but in terms of contract, his production to cap hit ratio is more valuable, IMO.

I proposed that on the first page. I don't see why it'd be a quick no. Doughty has more value than Parise (not too large of a margin), and 1st overall (someone like Larsson) will most likely have a much brighter future than Schenn.

This is assuming the Devils get first overall, though. Either way they have a pretty good chance at getting Larsson.

Parise + Larsson

for

Doughty + Schenn

Yandle, OEL+ from Phoenix?

Doughty, Voynov, 2nd from LA?

Enstrom, Bogosian, Kane+ from Atlanta?

I think Malkin would be perfect. But it wouldn't happen until the off season. Why upset the apple cart.

NJ and PIT top lines would be unstoppable. It would also put Zajac where he belongs, on the 2nd line. Adding depth to NJ.

You stole my idea... I would do that deal in a heartbeat. The Kings get their #1 winger to play alongside a stud in Kopitar and they can "replace" Doughty with a Larsson if available or Schenn with a Couturier/RNH.

This deal would work for both parties IMO. Maybe a Kings fan would want to weight in on this?

Has anyone watched Doughty play this season? We would be nuts to do a Parise for Doughty swap straight up, let alone a 1st overall pick in with it.

Malkin isn't the same Hart trophy winner he was two years ago and this would bend the Devils over to do a trade like this. Parise will never go to the same conference....ever.

There is no package that this would work for as it would cost to much to give up to someone else. It would make much more sense to trade them seperately as that is the best way to maximize value. I would say Parise for Johnson and a prospect from LA and 1st overall for Eberle and a prospect would be a better return than just Malkin or Doughty.

There is a salary cap people and this must be taken into consideration

As a Boston fan what would it take for Boston to get Parise?
Would Krejci, Toronto 1st 2011, Colborne + get it done?

I am higher on Johnson this season than Doughty FYI, but for your purposes lets analyze.

You would trade Parise for Doughty, but you would also trade the 1st overall pick for Schenn? Thats nuts

If we did that we would have Doughty and Schenn

If we kept Parise, we would have Parise and most likely Larsson. Doughty is having a bad year and it is obvious to me that you are just going off of stats.

This isn't just a Parise for Doughty trade, this is also including the 1st overall pick.

Parise + 1st overall is far far far superior to Doughty+ Schenn......

That would be a great package. It would give us a top 6 center, and great prospect, and a top 3-5 overally pick roughly. I would wait until the trade deadline to see how Toronto is doing, but that is a strong package.

That is exactly what I was about to post. Why would you trade your present and future at the same time.

Kessel.

Honestly, that package would scare most GMs off. They would have to add to a franchise player to match value. Franchise players are worth too much to their respective organizations because in addition to their play, they bring fans to the stadium. If Crosby and Ovechkin got traded for each other, Pittsburgh and Washington fans alike would be outraged.

A Malkin-Kovalchuk-Zubrus line would be sick offensively, but watching them play defense would make me break a lot of remotes. Sure they may each score 40+ goals (Zubrus 10-20), but they'll all end up with -20's at the end of the year.

I am curious, though, to see what something like this could possibly bring back to the organization. We're talking about a top ten player in the league (arguably) and a potential 1st overall pick.

Like I said, I would prefer to keep both, but if something special came along I'm sure Lou would think about it.
seriously? do you even need to add the 1st. you could pretty much get anyone in the league without adding the first. honestly it would be a waste of a trade to add the first.
