4 proposals

Chris Drury for Thomas Fleishmann and Jonas Holos.
Ranger 2nd + Matt Gilroy + Thomas Kundratek for Jovocop
Evgeny Grachev + future considerations for Jiri Hudler
Erik Christensen for a 6th somewhere

Thoughts?
And I am a big fan of Grachev!

Just think this is Sather kind of deals...

hudler- anisimov - Gabby
fleishmann - Dubinsky - Callahan
Feds/Avery - Boyle - Prust.
Wolski - Stepan - MZA

save Torts line changes and numbers

Staal - Girardi
McD/Eminger - Jovocop

Fleishmann is playing great hockey, give me ONE reason why they would ever want to trade him away, especially for drury in his current contract?

Nice try, our yearly quota of one ripoff from phoenix already happened.

a 6th? I rather bench his ass the entire game in-case we get into a shootout rather than trade him for a 6th rounder.

Dont see the reason to acquire Holos. Yeah he's young but he hasnt really done much that the current young D here hasnt. Dont see the reason to acquire him. And I also think Holos is playing decently enough that the Avs arent going to trade their 23 year old defenseman.

I like Fleischmann, but i doubt thats happening. I'd definitely like to see what colorado would have to say if sather called them up.

Bottom line....as I have continued to repeat because people continue to ignore reality, drury is not going anywhere. He is not going to the avalanche, they dont care if he has history with the team because that was an entirely different group of guys that were there.

Please dont deal two young defenseman for Jovanovski. I'm all for adding a veteran defenseman, just not him. Do not get sucked into the idea of Jovocop because its a "sexy" name. Lets get the right guy. He isnt it. Sather doesnt deal prospects for veteran players above 30 during the deadline. In fact he doesnt trade prospects really for anyone at the deadline.

Hudler has had an off year. He has struggled. I like him. But I'd rather keep Grachev and give him some more time than to play the experimental game with Hudler hoping he finds his scoring touch.

Dont care too much about EC. Dont know where he fits in with the future for the roster this season

To be honest, that seems like a bit of an overpayment for Jovanovski. Cut Kundratek out and I might be a little more comfortable. Gilroy, as much flack as he gets around here, shouldn't be treated as a throw-in either, I truly think the kid can be a player at this level.

Hudler is not even a question of talent (well he kind of is) but the higher question is can he even be trusted? He bolted from the best team in hockey at the time to play in the KHL because they we're willing to give him the money he oh so desired, Then his KHL team met the kaibosh and he came crawling back to the wings and is not doing himself any favors these days, Why even bother with him?

I completely agree. People jump on Gilroy way too much around here when the truth is he really hasnt been that bad.

Jovanovksi has 14 points. He is a +4. He has taken 60 shots this season. 35 PIM.

Gilroy has 8 points. He is a +9. He has taken 44 shots. He has just 4 PIM.

The difference? Jovanovski has played in 10 more games this season. Why are we making this trade again? Yeah we dont know how many points gilroy would've accumulated in those 10 games, but the point is Jovanovski that much of an upgrade? I know people will argue oh he's a tough defenseman. A tough defenseman who has 35 PIM. How does that help us if he isnt on the ice? I know we needed a tougher defenseman. We all know it. But make the right deal.

I'm not worried about trust. Trust should be the last thing on the list of issues with Hudler. The guy has 14 points in 41 games played. Just 4 of those points are goals. That is dreadful.

So you are saying in the PO you would rather have Matt Gilroy than Jovocop on the backend? . Hmmm - what is your favorite drink?

grachev had 0 points in 6 games... And? Detroit is going to clear some caps ace at the deadline. Be so sure. This could be a quite nice opportunity as we know the max level Hudler could produce...

Not saying that at all. But if you read anything in that post or this thread thus far, you'd notice that i prefer to see what else is out there because Jovanovski does not impress me all that much. And btw...Staal, MDZ (who isnt even with the team right now), Girardi, and Eminger all have more hits than "Jovocop." On top of that, Jovanovski would have the most giveaways on the rangers defense if he was added.

Grachev also had 2 goals the other night. He has been playing better of late. However, I'm not sure what his production has to do with Hudler's abysmal year. I'm not saying grachev is untouchable, but I'm not going to trade him for Hudler, who would be an experiment hoping that he finds his scoring touch. Rather hold onto the 21 year old and let him continue to play in the AHL then deal him for the struggling 26 year old Hudler.

You only move Grachev in a deal that makes this team a contender, IMO.

He has too much potential to be moved for a slight upgrade yet I don't believe he should be untouchable anymore.

For the right deal, everyone is movable. Except Henk, he's ours.

LOL. Nope that is not what I'm saying actually. I said I'm all for adding a veteran defenseman. You can go back and look. I said I'd rather not deal two young defensemen for Jovanovski because he is not the right guy. Not saying that I prefer to see Gilroy back there during the playoffs. I'd rather have a tough veteran defenseman. I would like to continue to note that i dont think Gilroy has been bad. Keep in mind that he isnt that young. He is 26 years old. You dont have to baby him. Let him continue to play. I think he has handled it well.

I think Grachev still has good potential. However, I would not say he has "too much potential." He has regressed from that status. But I agree Hudler isnt really an upgrade, and trading Grachev for him would be a mistake. When it comes to trading, sather does not make mistakes like that.

Gilroy has not been all bad - agreed
He is not young - agreed
Jovocop is not the optimal solution - agreed

But I think this is the road Glen Sather will take - pls read my OP

I read your OP. You dont say much. You just put the proposals up. I just responded as to why sather wont go down that road. He does not deal prospects at the deadline aka kundratek and grachev. I think he will deal Gilroy which is why he is getting the playing time right now, plus he has played well.

There will be other defensemen out there at the deadline.

I know Sather is capable of pulling some incredible trades out of his ass, but do you really think he will get the Avs to trade a 26 year old forward who has had a point per game pace and a solid 23 year old defensive prospect for a 34 year old forward with a 7 mil cap hit who has 4 assists all season?

Come on man, really...

Chris Drury for Thomas Fleishmann and Jonas Holos...if u could pull that off..u should be GM for life.

Ranger 2nd + Matt Gilroy + Thomas Kundratek for Jovocop...terrible, terrible, terrible idea. I don't trade a 2nd for Jovo straight up and you want to include Gilroy who is only getting better and better and Kundratek who has been the best dman in Hartford.

Evgeny Grachev + future considerations for Jiri Hudler...this one is even worse than the Jovo deal.

Erik Christensen for a 6th somewhere..only sensisble move and it still doesn't make sense
