Keep him, he plays with his heart on his sleeve and has developed great chemistry on our 2nd line.

Well let's just wait to see how he does in the second half of the year. I'd love to see him reach 60 pts. I also do see the Leafs retaining him for around the same contract as Grabovski. They won't trade him unless they get a crazy offer from someone (unlikely).

Whatever the most prudent thing to do, burke will do the opposite.

with the numbers he's putting up, it will probably be 3.5M at a minimum. I would be ok with that however. He's been solid for us.

If only the comedic wit in this statement were equaled by intelligent thought, considering it was Burke and Nonis who acquired MacArthur (at his current $1.1M price) in the first place.

I suspect Burke will offer something in the range of what Grabovski and Kulemin are getting, closer to Grabovski.

He'll probably take a two year deal and when that's expired if he's kept up this play he can command $3.5-4M. No one will give him that now.

I wouldn't be surprised if he got around what he WOULD have gotten with the arb. award (2.5 I believe?)

Now if he gets 60 points, and then I can see north of 2.5-3, but not more than 3.

MacArthur will be Jason Blake 2.0

Has one solid season, gets paid like a 50+ point player, then looks hilarious the next season.

Also, he has nowhere near the talent Kulemin has.

There is no issue here.

The paper seems like it needs something to write about and is trying to feed on the frenzy that is the Maple Leafs.

Really no story. Luke Schenn and Tyler Bozak are also RFAs.

MacArthur is just as good if not better then Kulemin, it's not Toronto's fault Atlanta was blind.

No, not exactly. Despite the fact that the KGM line has been the Leafs best this season, it is still not universally considered our first line. Ideally most fans want to see the line that Kessel is playing on as the first line going forward with the KGM line as a solid 2nd.

Don't mind our media, they can't seem to grasp the concept of a restricted free agent.

Give him something similar to the Grabovski contract if he winds up around 55-60 points and everybody can walk away happy. He may not be as talented as Kulemin, but he's certainly not a passenger on that line - for whatever reason, he's really figured his game out this year.

Different players Kulemin and MacArthur, I thinkk Mac can do stuff with the puck Kulemin can't, but Kulemin has a huge edge physically, plus Kulemin deflects way more shots, not saying they are all going in for him, but he's a net presence because he can't be moved.

Actually, if you take a look at Jason Blake's career, you'll see that he had four good seasons with the Islanders and it turned out his best season was his final season in Long Island. With that being said, Jason Blake also had a very good season his second year in Toronto. It wasn't Blake's fault that the idiot Leaf GM John Ferguson Jr gave him a ridiculous contract.

Maybe if you simply look at stats. MacArthur plays the game nothing like Blake does and from Day 1 on the Leafs he has played like he has something to prove. He leads the Leafs in points, has developed incredible chemistry with Grabovski and Kulemin, and has played with a level of heart and effort we haven't seen on a consistent basis for a long time. MacArthur is 25, on pace for 26G-69pts more than half way through the season but he's a Leafs player that obviously means he's a one hit wonder.

Kind of a toss up in my opinion, Kulemin could improve in quite a few areas. Consistency being the most glaring.

MacArthur is more of a complete player right now, although I do think Kulemin will become better then Mac in the near future.

Glad to have them both.

Kulemin still scores and racks up assists, he doesn't have the hivemind goin that MacArthur and Grabo do but he's probably the most important piece on that line because he can just grab the puck and never give it up

I would guess he gets around 2.5-3 million a year. Anything above that is overpayment IMO.
