It's guys like Stamkos that make we wonder why we were so eager to spend 7.8 million on Nash. Nash is a great player. Elite sometimes. But he's not a franchise player and not even close to a generational talent. You can list the greats over the ages and Nash won't compare.

The greats will always be great no matter who is on their team. Nash isn't one of those guys.

I'm surprised you haven't figured it out...

Huselius > Hjeda > Hitchcock > Howson > Hrdina > Hulse > Heward

I have to disagree. His contract is a good contract for the team. Sure Stamkos is special, and stands out above the rest, so do Crosby and Ovechkin. But Nash is a top 20 player in this league, statistically and all around. He's just shy of a point per game and on track for a 40 goal season. He is a legitimate franchise player. The problem is that good teams have 2 or 3 players of this calibre. We have 1, and a goalie that hasn't lived up to expectations.

You can I have a much different view of franchise players and what their performance should be.

Here is where I'm coming from.

Its hard for me to look at teams like Chicago, Anaheim, Vancouver, San Jose , etc, and find players that are much better than Nash. But what I do see on those teams is not just one player of Nash's calibre, but 3 or 4. Eric Staal is in much the same situation in Carolina as Nash is here, ditto Iginla for in Calgalry.

Its not that Corey Perry is better than Nash, its that Getz/Ryan are much better than Brass/Voracek.
