BTW, this is Garrioch who tends to pull stuff out of the air with a perspective of what Ottawa wants and very little perspective of the other team.
it really makes me scratch my head at rumors that DW might have been interested in adding Philips or Rivet to this Shark team

Spector debunks Edmonton pundit's ponderings about Sharks wanting Souray.

i read something today about Jarkko Ruutu possibly going to San Jose or Pittsburgh. some posters have been asking for an agitator, but id rather keep the 3rd pick or whatever it takes. maybe if Ottawa takes Joslin instead..

An agitator is a piece we could add if the other major parts of the game were in order, ignoring the fact Mayers and Nichol can play that role already. But with the PK where it is in the middle of the pack, and with a team that's always playing from behind - an agitator isn't going to be helpful. We need better defense, better exits (we are folding under a 2-1-2 forecheck 50% of the time now), and a better forecheck of our own.

Jarkko Ruutu would actually be acquired to be the shootout specialist, not the agitator

I'd much rather have his brother. How about a Rutuu + Pitkanen trade.

Though to be honest, his playoff numbers are discouraging.

I still stand by what I said all last year; trade Clowe for Kaberle. Lets face it, the Leafs need offense, they'll get that in Clowe. The Sharks need a puck moving defencemen, they'll get that in Kaberle for sure.

Clowe fits right in to the Leafs roster, the Leafs like guys with grit, and guys who can score goals and create offense. Clowe can do all of that.

I could definitely picture Kaberle playing alongside Demers or Vlasic, but probably not with Boyle because Murray and Boyle are partners and have both stated they know each other inside out, and the way each other plays. Kaberle is one of the best puck moving defensemen in the league by far and would fit right into a good power play unit. Imagine this power play: Marleau, Heatley, Thornton, Boyle and Kaberle. That sounds deadly to me.

Anyways I think that seems fair to me. Maybe the Sharks also throw in Cheechoo since he's a prospect of our now in Worcester and they give us a prospect or two of their own, preferably a defensemen. But this is just my opinion though, I don't know about you guys, but I think this sounds fair.

Kaberle will leave the Sharks at the end of the Season. No way is that worth Clowe. Cheechoo isn't a prospect. He's on a player tryout contract and any NHL team can sign him if they want.

The Sharks don't need a DMan who can't handle himself in his own zone they already have enough of that.

As true as this may be, Clowe is the backbone of this team. Could you picture this team without him? No thanks.

Cheech isn't a prospect of the Sharks hes on a try out contract technically the Sharks have nothing to do with him.

Funny how everyone is Kaberle this Kaberle that, I saw that dude say he would never play (or want to play) in SJ, so isn't this moot on the Kaberle front? MEH - ha ha

If DW traded Clowe for Kaberle I hope to God he would be fired on the spot.

The issue I have with Kaberle for an 'offensive dman' he doesn't have a very good shot and even when he does use it, its always in the same location. BLEH

This is the one of the worst possible scenarios I can see. Trading your hardest working most passionate player who is having a career year for a rental player who is almost guaranteed not to re-sign here and whom does not posses the ideal skill set.

If we are trading Clowe, it better be for the perfect d-man coming back.
