Doesn't make sense for either team, Nashville gets knocked back a couple of years in the build when they're a playoff team, and Leafs lose 2 first-rounders and a 2nd in a deep draft, as well as a 2nd line prospect. Top 6 of the future, gone, in one move.

It drives me crazy that everyone thinks we are that broke. Our building is at 95% attendance this year. 2 out of our last 3 games have been sell outs. We just stay under the cap mid point to participate in the revenue sharing. We do not have to trade our second best player for Nazem Kadri and a bunch of Garbage. Why would we take Dion Phaneuf, we can just re-sign Shea Weber and be done with it. Look at the HFboards team prospect evaluations, we have the deepest farm in hockey, we do not need to trade for more picks. We have an extra 1st round as it is in the Devils second round pick.

i dont think legwand or erat are worth it and why would the leafs give up so much future? not saying weber and legwand arnt worth that just saying it doesnt exactly make sense for rebuilding.

and maybe the Leafs could just donate thier table on the draft floor to a contest winner or something so it doesn't go to waste !
YOU CAN"T WIN IF YOU DON"T DRAFT AND DEVELOP WELL !!!

They still have to pay the salaries, and Nashville isn't exactly raking in dough.

Leafs and Preds aren't great trading partners, not sacrificing my 2012 picks either along with Kadri and Redden 2.0

Plus not risking ALL OF THAT on Shea Weber. Say what you want but being paired up with Ryan Suter really helps his case. Not saying he isn't a bona fide 1st pairing D-man, but I wouldn't blow my 8th overall and my likely top 10 pick PLUS Phaneuf and my 2nd round pick on him.

1) JP, Erat, and Legwand have no trade clauses in their contracts.

2) Why pay for Dion when the money for Weber is already there and Nashville could easily pay for Weber now without having to make a move to free cash.

not a chance.

we took Suter ahead of him for a reason....

everyone needs to stop asking for Weber.

he is not available except for a ridiculous overpayment or true superstar(think Malkin, not Phaneuf)

Yeah this trade makes 0 sense for nashville. Overall not a good trade at all for either team really.

Fair trade = Phaneuf , Kadri 2012 first , 2012 second.

You got this wrong. Very few are asking for Weber.

Weber is a good young player but suggesting he is some kind of superstar who is untradeable is not objective or realistic.

I can't imagine how much Weber's value would plummet around here if he was traded to the Leafs.

If nobody is asking for Weber its because they know Poile wont trade him.

And while his value may not be that high in your "objective" sense, he IS that valuable to the preds and therefore he is NOT available for trade for anything other than a ridiculous overpayment...

After the 2010 Olympics, everyone talked about how he was the best defenseman on team Canada. So he was the best D-man on the best team in the world. I wouldn't call that too shabby.

I still wouldn't do that deal. Phaneuf is cancer and Kadri is overrated.

The Leafs should not be dealing away any picks or prospects right now. Weber would be a great addition as would one of those forwards but we wouldnt be a contender and we would be left with no futures whatsoever.

Erat isn't worth $5.25 mil nor is he worth $6.0 mill in the 2011/2012 season and he's not that good of a player too. Your 2011/2012 & 2012/2013 seasons are cap hit seasons...not to mention the mass UFA and RFA those 2 seasons as well. You guys will have to dump salary.

He is a franchise player. Along with Suter. No doubt about it.

First off, there are only two goalies per team. Secondly, I never said Weber was the best in the world. I said most people thought he was the best on his team in that particular tournament. To say that he isn't a star in this league is, IMO, ridiculous.

That said, he's not the best on our team, because Suter is a superstar. He doesn't get nearly the recognition he should.

Serious question, do you ever get tired of being wrong?
