Chris Phillips for Devin Setoguchi? It would give San Jose a good defensive defenseman and Ottawa a good young top 6 forward, filling needs both teams have.
Absolutely not. I don't understand where people get this idea that the Sharks need another stay-at-home shutdown d-man.

Andy Greene would be the ideal fit cause he can move the puck, his salary is peanuts and the return will be nothing but picks (2nd or 3rd rounder considering this is a weak draft).
How about Braydon Coburn, Nik Zherdev and Andreas Nodl for Ryan Clowe?
I have loads of interest in Coburn but Clowe and Couture are our two untouchables. Vlasic, Demers and Pavelski are also very close to being untouchable.

How about McGinn, Huskins, Joslin and a 1st for Coburn?

I'm with you on Andy Greene. PF was referring to Chris Phillips, which is a type of player we probably don't need.
As I said earlier in this thread, Sharks fans and Devils fans can probably easily agree on Greene for Huskins and a 3rd.
With only that deal,
Boyle-Murray
Greene-Vlasic
Demers-Wallin
My only thing is, I want someone else to replace Wallin and hopefully Wallin is waived and sent to the A. I know DW loves Wallin, but he has to see how ineffective Wallin is and how he's fine to be a #7 here in the postseason, but is killing us even in the bottom pairing.
That's why I want both Tallinder and Greene, but other Sharks fans disagree, so okay Huskins and a 3rd for Greene.
Maybe a complimentary deal to that is Seto, McGinn, Joslin and a 2nd for Coburn.
Then your top 6 d pairings are:
Boyle-Coburn (all of a sudden one of the best pairings in the league)
Greene-Vlasic (mobile PMD + defensive dman)
Demers-Murray (offensive dman + defensive dman, Murray on the third pairing where he belongs)
Wallin waived, to the A, back for playoffs only as #7.
Losing Seto is rough, but Coburn is not a rental. As soon as he is traded, DW works on an extension (he's signed through next season).

Seems like a decent trade (and i'm a huge Clowe fan), but that's three incoming roster spots. Sharks would have to really stir up the roster to make it happen. I just think they'd be more interested in bringing in one big piece.
Oh no, i'm not saying something can't be worked out, but if Clowe/Pavelski is what you're after, the price is going to be steep.
If you're just looking to unload Beauchemin, we'd definitely be interested but not at the price of one of the top guys on our team. It would be more in the ballpark of like Setoguchi, <mid pick or mid-prospect> for Beauchemin
And if Schenn is who you are after, the price is going to be steeper. heatley agrees.

Boyle + a big, accurate shot from the point might be the tonic required. It's going to cost too much to get an elite offensively focused defenseman but a guy (I know you are probably sick of hearing it) like Beauchemin would fill the role nicely. He's minute eater, a reliable defenseman who can move the puck and has a huge shot.
Tremendous overpayment. You do realize that pick could be as high as 9th?
I don't think it's an overpayment considering Jamie McBain is in the deal. If it was only Pitkanen of course it's overpaying. Do you even know who McBain is? Note that a Canes fan just posted that they wouldn't do the deal I proposed that included the 1st round pick because McBain was involved.
Trying to see what Canes fans think. Haven't heard a Canes fan yet say that they won't give up Pitkanen and McBain. (Edit: Just now Anton Bomb said they wouldn't)
I'm fine with Seto, McGinn, Huskins, Joslin and a 2nd/3rd for Pitkanen and McBain. But somehow I don't think the Canes will bite on that.
At the moment, McBain is untouchable. He's had his rough patches this year, as any rookie defenseman does, but I doubt the management is willing to get rid of him that easily. Especially after the performance he put on last year.
We've got some other young defensemen though, if you're interested in that. Sanguinetti, Carson, Borer.
McBain is untouchable....a good young defenseman who is price controlled for a while. It wouldnt make any sense for budget team like the Canes to deal him at his skill and price point. If you are looking for a young player back along with Pitkanen it could be anyone off the Charlotte roster not named Dalpe
