I think us Stars fans are rather spoiled, actually, and neither Benn nor Neal should be on the block, even if it means fixing other shortcomings such as a #1 defenseman. I would rather have some patience and work something out via free agency or deal unsure assests such as Glennie, Campbell, draft picks with possible additions such as Niskanen. I think Joe has plenty to use as tradebait if he really wants to persue a #1 defenseman.

I personally feel that a player like Jamie Benn is extremely hard to come by. You don't trade such rare commodities, you build around them.

Trading Loui Eriksson does not make sense for the Stars.

That's why I laughed.

Nothing against Letang, but Eriksson's staying right where he is. Pens fans seem to think the same of Letang, so let's leave it at that.

Man, these Pens-Stars proposals always end the same way, don't they?
You see what I was responding too, and I didn't have the need to laugh.

But as far as trade standard worth, one is a "TOP" winger, and one is a "TOP" D-man.

It's hardly laughable, just each his own holds their player in high regards to his own team, as would both teams Higher-Archy. Which is more valuable on the open market, I'd contend they're equal for the most part.

Neither Benn or Neal are worth Letang, and I believe we all have come to this conclusion.

So, why would they give him up for either of them. Your not getting a top D-man for Neal or Benn, it's just not there.

Goligoski, is at the cusp of being one, not there yet, but he's not that far off. Still pretty young by D-man standards who's just approaching his prime. Same could be said of Neal, and I would totally understand wanting more for Benn, but it isn't Letang.
We all have come to this conclusion? You do know this is an internet message board right?

Just thought of this as an offseason trade or even a draft day trade.

Since some of you are good with Gogo+Jeffrey for Neal how about Gogo+Jeffrey+2011 1st round pick+ (what would the cost be?) for Neal+Glennie? Glennie goes to WBS unless he is pretty much NHL ready now?

Pens top 9 then becomes

Kunitz-Crosby-Neal
Tangradi-Malkin-4M UFA winger
Cooke-Staal-TK

I doubt Dallas would trade Neal and Glennie in the same trade.

I wish I knew what kind of thoughts went through people's heads when they make up such nonsense.

Why, because i did not offer Letang for Neal like what is talked about now? that'll never happen. Or because i took away your cheap replacement for top 6 wing when Neal goes? hey, it's just discussion and not like i said Neal+Benn for Gogo+Tangradi.

Don't think so, if Goligoski + Jeffrey is roughly worth Neal (I know some Dallas fans considered it pretty fair but I don't know if it's the majority view) then Glennie is definitely worth more than our late 1st.

I did add a plus and say what it would cost, it can also be a 2012 1st round pick if it is after the draft and something else.

even if we overpay I still don't see it working, Dallas don't want to ship two wingers out.

Probably, because Glennie becomes the cheap replacement for Neal.
