Blake Kessel
To New York Islanders:
Jonas Gustavsson
Mike Komisarek

Wow the Islanders are taking it dry on this one. Molson is turning out to be a great 25-30 goal scorer. I also believe that Kessel will be a very very very good NHL D-man, Toronto will need to add

it was meant to be a starting point but i know how those end up but meh, what do you feel is fair for the leafs to add?

What the Islanders need is defense, defense, and then some more defense. I just don't think the Islanders can sacrifice a prospect like Kessel with that being their biggest need. Here is what I think a good counter to be and let's just simplify it a bit as the piece that Toronto wants is Moulson
Breaking news from everyone around the league...No one wants anyone from Toronto unless it's Kessel, Kaberle, or Kadri.
Well, anything can be argued. The Monster isn't doing much better than DiPietro.... so what exactly would we be gaining? With Poulin and Koskinen developing in the A, and Nathan Lawson filling in as backup, there is zero need for the Isles to add a goaltender at this juncture.
There's ESPECIALLY no need to use up possible trade chips in this manner.
Edit: Almost forgot about Anders Nilsson..... yet another goalie in the Isles system
The Isles need a legit top six veteran winger, and a solid veteren defensive forward for the bottom six.
My point was that Kessel is going to be a big time D-man for Long Island for a long time IMO, and you don't trade that for the prospects offered unless someone comparable is coming back to replace him.
Gustavsson and Komisarek are garbage and Mikus is just an average defensive prospect (i.e. the Islanders probably have their own Mikus). The Islanders are giving up way too much.

But is he doing better than Rick? I'm not saying NYI should make THAT trade, but a decent goalie for a 1-2 punch wouldn't be a bad idea. Lawson isn't a great backup, that's all I'm saying, and with Rick's injury history, it's scary to think if he goes down long term AGAIN, and you guys not have Biron and Rolo to carry the load.

Oh, Lawson is terrible..... and Rick's lower body is hanging by a thread.
My point is, the Isles can finish bottom five with or without the Monster sharing time with Rick. Why are the Isles trading assets to fill a position they're logjammed in already, when there are much bigger needs to be filled?
The Isles have three legit prospects at that position right now, two were fighting eachother already for playing time this season before the Rollie trade. The Isles could add Ken Dryden and Pat Roy at this point.... and they might make it out of lottery position for their efforts.
Actually, they're a team that problably does need Komisarek's contract, if in fact they were willing to spend money and become a decent team.
no no a million times no, Komisareks contract is an albatross, would have no interest in taking that on and We like Poulin as much as Gustavsson so this trade is a non starter from the get go.
in all honesty at this point you'd probably have to give someone something pretty good to take Komisarek, Burke must be wondering where the real Mike Komisarek went
All of these players fill no needs the Islanders have, and actually take away some of our main assets.
Moulson will probably be resigned, Kessel is a solid prospect that has a much needed big body (unlike his brother), and Cizikas was a star in the WJC (what team would trade the star of the WJC if they owned their rights).
Gustavsson gives us nothing, D'Amigo is meh, Komisarek is a pylon, and who is Juraj Mikas (exactly)?

all in all this was the OP's wet dream
no no a million times no. If Wang decided he actually wanted a winning team and was willing to pay for it, trading for a defenceman like Komisarek to play with Streit would be a massive step in the right direction.
The real Mike Komisarek has been in Toronto all along, playing a reduced role because the Leafs have 4 defencemen better suited to their style of play.
Don't forget that the Isles did try to sign Komisarek for $5+ 2 years ago.
