Might want to get Lupul to step into Anaheim's lineup and actually do something before he becomes a key piece in a trade for Shea ****ing Weber...

Not that prospects are a bad thing, but where is the absolute, guaranteed, 1st line player that would be coming to Nashville for the best player they have ever drafted?

Weber isn't going anywhere. And even if he was, this deal is brutal for us. We need pieces to help us compete now, not in 5 years.

Cmon, really? I know Fowler is a stud but its not like Weber is old and he is already a top 5 defenseman. IMO.

Weber for Ryan + Sbisa seems fair.

But Weber is not leaving Nashville.

I'm sorry, but that is ludicrous. Fowler is far from a top pairing defenseman. He's not even close to physically ready, let alone good enough defensively. Weber is one of the best defenseman in the league, has scored 20+ goals as a defenseman, is the captain of one of the better teams in the West, and is a yearly Norris threat. Fowler has accomplished none of this yet. Weber is still only 25, and he's still an RFA, which makes him even more valuable.

If Murray could get Weber for Fowler straight up, he'd streak through the streets of Anaheim naked.

Oh yeah, no doubt about it. Watching Fowler this year has been awesome, and makes me excited to see him continue to get better and help this team win, but man, I'd pack his bags myself for Shea Weber.

I feel like this conversation has been had quite a few times between fanbases, and it always ends up at the same point. What I would really like to do is somehow pry Ryan Ellis out of Nashville's hands and pair him with Fowler for the rest of their lives. Something like Kyle Palmieri+. Potential for potential.

Why would anyone give up Palmieri for a guy at a position of strength? We already have guys like Vatanen, Gardiner and Schultz who are great offensive defensemen prospects, why add more?

In a vacuum, quite likely. In the real world, he couldn't make the deal. The Ducks are on a tight budget. Having big contributors on entry level deals is just too important. There's no doubt Weber is the superior player right now and likely for a while. But especially after this season, the trade would never just read Fowler for Weber to the Ducks, it would always include the Ducks having to make a lot of room for that upgrade. In the end, it wouldn't make the Ducks better, either.

Yeah, looks like Blum, Franson or Ellis would be more likely...

To Anaheim:
Shea Weber
J.P. Dumont

To Nashville:
Joffrey Lupul
Jake Gardiner
Emerson Etem
Dan Sexton
2012 1st Round Pick
2011 3rd Round Pick
I wouldn't do this. Etem and Gardnier have a lot of potential.

Nope, Ducks already have 2 Rookie D in the lineup, and with their own very good D prospects coming. The need is a younger Vet top 4 guy. Weber isn't the best option either though. Someone like Chris Phillips or Reghyr who can come in and be Fowler's parter would be ideal.

I agree with this. I think a guy like Phillips would be ideal at this point, a little bit older so he won't be taking up room when the D prospects come up.

Bobby Ryan seems quite equitable.

As for a quantity-for-quality package, Nashville has no need to accept. If he signs an offer sheet, it's likely that Nashville will match unless it's in the $9M range or thereabouts. Nashville has been preparing to sign both of its star players on defense. It's more likely Suter, heading to UFA in another year, who will be a challenge to sign.

Like it's been said, Weber isn't the best fit for our team. And some of the proposals in this thread have been downright outrageous.

To Anaheim:
Shea Weber

To Nashville:
Bobby Ryan
Cam Fowler
Teemu Selanne
Saku Koivu
Jonas Hiller
Corey Perry
Ryan Getzlaf

Maybe throw in a 2nd on their end for balance, and we have a deal.

Oh, and I'll thrown in Chet Pickard also.

Nashville would never do this. Way too much salary coming back.

Yes. If Anaheim doesn't want to give one of their big three then Nashville doesn't move one of it's big two. Adding Fowler was a bit much though, sorry bout that.

The only team would would have enough assets to trade for Weber is maybe Boston. And that's IF the Toronto 1st is #1. even then Boston has the best GA in the league so no deal.

Hmmmm, if only Nashville had a Hobey Baker winning prospect.......

Nashville has some good young forward prospects in the system, in guys like Beck, Budish, Klasen and Watson to go along with young players like Wilson, Hornqvist, O'Reilly and Kostitsyn up front.
