i'd like to see thoresen on the 3rd or 4th line if powe and/or nodl aren't back for whatever reason. great pk and energy guy who i think could fill in a top 6 role as needed with injuries.

we'll also need a backup goalie assuming leighton is gone on re-entry waivers at some point.

What would you offer him and how long? Also would this not more than likely make signing Leino more difficult?

I would love Gagne back at about 3mil/yr for 2yrs.
In this case we probably would be out of the race, because GMs would've noticed. They won't care how many points he has after 82 games if he would have a strong finish on PPG level and a strong playoff run.
I haven't followed Gagne at all but it might be, that he just doesn't feel comfortable down there. He was 12 (?) years in Philly, so his recent struggle might be understandable.
If you think about it, if he would come back, he would feel comfortable right away, being very motivated, also. Since I haven't seen him play this season I can't tell if he really lost "it" or is just snake-bitten or still not at 100% health-wise. But if he has something left it would be a good move, imo, to bring him home.

2years $4million, I'd be hesitant to go above that since we have to sign some key guys and have young guys upcoming who might lose their spot on the roster if he would join (read: Nodl).
I'd trade Carle to fit Simon in.

Me as well, I really liked him when he was here. He plays 1 speed all the time and that is Flat Out!

If you pay Gagne - at Gagne's current perfomance and appearance rate - more than $1mm for 1 year (+ incentives) you would be an awful cap manager... oh no Homer!

that seems to be hit or miss on whether or not it would transfer to the NHL, but i'd sign him purely for his defensive play. if he ends up playing his way onto a scoring line, that's icing on the cake.

resigning leino is the top priority.
Anyone think wellwood might suffice next season on the 3rd line or so? He looked good in his brief stint here earlier in the season.

The KHL might well be better than the AHL, but it is just a scrub league with unsustainable finances. I'm tired of the hype, is all.

hey, i'm with you. The KHL might be a slightly better league than the AHL, but it doesn't prepare players for the NHL or gauge players potential or ability for the north american game like the AHL does. It's a different game in the KHL.
