He's well rested this time around. He got shouldered with enormous regular season workloads, it's never really been a shock when goalies fall apart after strenuous regular seasons.

Some fall apart, and some don't. Nabbys issue had more to do with choking than being tired.

I mean, the rest of the Sharks squad didn't exactly help.

Nothing against Bob, he's been having a Calder Trophy type season, but if Boosh continues to play as well as he has been then Bob sitting on the bench is doing no one any good.
If the Flyers were to claim Nabby, which I hope they don't, Bob is going to have to join Leighton on the Phantoms. Does anyone really want this?

Recently, they tend to fall apart. Luongo, Nabby, and Miller from last year are good examples.

Depends how much Nabby is making. Red Wings aren't exactly rolling in cap space.

Some report is saying 570k, which means we won't even get a chance to claim him, being at the bottom of the waiver list.

It's an interesting situation because there is almost no demand given the fact that someone else will surely claim him.

Seriously. Did Detroit's owner lose a bet to Wang?

There's no way that's true.

Depends, is that $570K for the rest of the season? Because that's not the same as having a $570K cap hit.

Depends if you think you're getting the same Bobrovsky 3-5 months from now. He's going to be in uncharted waters this time next month.

You could go one way or other other on it, but one could make the case that they're concerned he's going to start petering out like he was earlier in the season.

i wouldn't hate a nabby/bob duo for the rest of the year and even another year or two. think the wings will claim leighton as an injury plug-in when someone nabs nabby off waivers?

Think of it as insurance. Boosh is playing great, but we have all seen him go from great to gone in no time flat. Bob has been playing great as well, but he is what 23? Not even? Sending him to the AHL won't hurt him, and since he is exempt from waivers (I believe this is true, if not please correct me) we can send him down and recall him later if necessary. With Nabby, you are getting a solid goalie. He may not be Patrick Roy, but he is at least as good as Boosh and Bob (but probably better). And if it Turns out Nabby sucks this time around, then waive him. Not a huge deal because we wouldn't have given anything up to get him. That being said, if he is really signing for $570k, no way he makes it to the Flyers on waivers. I really don't like this waiver rule. It's kind unfair to both sides. Red Wings think they are getting a goalie. Other teams had a shot to negotiate with him in the offseason and didn't. Nabby agrees to play for Detroit but ends up in Long Island. That just seems unfair to both sides of teh agreement.

I thought Miller played pretty damn well in the play-offs last year (as in most years, and the Olympics). Rask played a little better, but he also had way way more help.

IIRC, Nabby hasn't ever lost a series where his team scored more than 2 gaols a game. And I can remember two or three series where I was very impressed with him. I think the problem in the play-offs isn't him.

Yeah but usually things like contracts and trades and whatnot are tailored to at least be fair for one of the parties involved in the negotiating. I guess the rule is meant to encourage signings in the offseason and discourage them midseason.

Yeah, but he couldn't get paid. Haha. He'll follow where the money goes. Hence, he went to the KHL originally.

Woah...what's with the "Wings will win the cup" and the "we should claim him," talk?

Last time I checked, Evgeny Nabokov was one of the biggest playoff chokers in the sport. Last thing I want it a goalie who will pull a Cechmanek on us. No thanks.

I want nothing to do with Nabokov. We already have a Russian goaltender.

In 80 playoff games, Nabokov has a 0.913 sv% and a 2.29 GAA.

I'd point the finger at the team in front of him...

I don't want him on the team, though, given his poor locker room reputation.

For whatever reason, Russian goaltenders usually seem to have their **** together. It's the skaters that get wonky.

Any move like this would have to be considered beyond games. This team feels like they're together in it, they don't need anything like that coming in.

Aha, this is how it might all come together.

There's a rumor that NJ will claim Nabokov and then promptly waive him.

The Devils get first dibs, so they'll get Nabokov. When they waive him right afterwards, Detroit gets first dibs as they are Nabby's original team.

That sucks.
