You can have Aaron Voros for a 7th. Anaheim throws in a pair of Disneyland tickets.

Interesting that the Rangers used to have the same problem a few years back.

For sure any UFA on the Isles is available for a pick or prospect. I'd imagine Zenon could be had on the cheap, maybe a mid round pick?

Problem is one or even two players isn't going to do it for you. You may want a good pugilist or two to protect your guys, but you want a good team mindset to have the idea of overall team toughness, block shots, finish checks, protect the goalie, go to the net, stick up for each other, etc.

There really isn't much on the Oilers that interests the Caps right now, given their current situation. Just curious if the Oilers fans could come up with some creative deal involving Bradley for something useful. Didn't really have high expectations.
Well this is really the problem. That and Bradley is a UFA so I doubt we'd even make the trade in the first place. Unless we were unloading Jacques or Fraser for him.

You know the real sad thing is Blair Betts would've signed before he signed in Philly. Was training with some of the Oilers and other local born players that summer. Even said he wouldn't mind being an Oiler, but was never contacted by the Oil.

That was know as the summer we were going to try from within. Here we are almost 2 years later and still no solution.

Vandemeer. Once he's back. He's been useful, and is an UFA at the end of the year.

Ward and Smithson are both very available. Not sure of the return on those guys.

you guys are a lot tougher than the wild already, but it doesn't seem to be helping you. I'd say spend your money teaching your young stars how to play like a team--you'll be owning the division in a couple years. I can't believe how good they look individually but when you mix them together its just chaos.

If we're talking the first round of the playoffs, it won't be on an Edmonton course. There's something about a golf ball and snow being the same colour that really increases the level of difficulty to the game.

As far as the Clarkson talk, I'd probably want a 3rd (doesn't have to be this year) added to him in a swap for Gilbert.

Agreed. I think Gilbert is worth slighty more. But, it is definetly a close ball park.

  • Hemsky, Cogliano for Pahlsson, 1st (11), 1st(12)/Filatov
  • Brule for Komisarek
Before I see the line "Cogliano sucks" I would like to point out that he's done a great job turning his game around. The Oilers PK has been much better over the last month and he's been a major reason for that. Pahlsson's still the better player, but I can't imagine Columbus is happy playing over 2.5 for a play that can't add anything offencively.

Hemsky for 2 1st is well within reason for a rental; throw in the fact that he's got an extra year and that should balance off the fact that this years will most likely be higher than most traded firsts.

Brule for Komisarek; Toronto dumps an unwanted contract and a player, who just hasn't fit in.

sign a decent fighter who can play and actually annoy ie: Stone, Ashem, ect
Go after a proven PK'ing winger, who can skate (Sjostrom, Higgins, ect) and there you go.

Lineup after (11-12):
Penner-Hall-Eberle
Omark-Gagner-Paajarvi
Jones-Horcoff-Reddox
Sjostorm-Pahlsson-Ashem

Whitney-Komisarek
Smid-Gilbert
Peckham-Petry

Dubnyk
Khabibulin

PB: Fraser, Foster, MacIntyre
cap space: ~10 million

As an oiler fan I'm finally believing Hemsky may be injury prone and I don't see any team giving up two 1st's for him. Hemsky is still dynamite none the less.

I'd hate to see that trade ever happen.

Asham and Pahlsson are aging fast and there's no need for Sjostrom.

We can do better than Komisarek and if not, I'd rather call up some defenceman developing in our organization.

agreed, I'm sick of this Komisarek talk, what a waste of a contract and Vandermeer is alot tougher.

If something were to happen to Erskine, sure. But right now Vandermeer isn't playing any better than Erskine and has a bigger contract. No need to trade assets to get duplicate pieces.

Mike Komisarek and Colton Orr have negative value.

Gilbert may be headed in that direction... but at least his contract ends sooner.

I certainly hope the moderator gave out an infraction for such a retardedly cheeky comment.

Edmonton's best goal scorer for an overpaid and injury prone stay at home d-man.

Clarkson for EDM 2011 2nd.

That or a prospect would be a nice return.

Hey Devils fans, what would you say to something to the effect of Clarkson and Rolston for one of Colgiano or Brule?

Don't be ridiculous, Clarkson for a second is fair... sure he isn't having a great year, but he is a pretty good third line player, i could see him scoring 15-20 goals steady for a long while.
