I wish someone had a clip of Roo's hipcheck - it was a beauty.

Ugh I hate misinformed broadcasters. "First hit I've ever seen by Giroux"? Come on lol. The only thing remotely wrong with it was that Giroux did leave his feet a bit. Big deal...2 minutes for charging at most.

That hit was poetry in (slow) motion.

Even so, Giroux still fought, so get over it.

The Senators blogger for the site I blog for, god damn, I can't believe I'm forced to write a counterpoint argument to it.

Fair enough, but when you have only scored 105 goals all season it might be better to spend 5 million on a good top 6 forward rather than 3 3rd/4th liners. Fisher and Michalek are overpaid for the amount of offense they have been producing too. Kuba sucks at 3.7

Powe and Betts make chump change, and it leaves more money for the top 9.
I completely agree, Winchester is making half of what Kelly does, and kids like Zack Smith make half as much as Ruutu, so for sure we need a premier scorer but not much out there.

Would you take Gagne? Or is he Pascal Leclaire's half brother...always hurt?

It really was. But seeing it unfold frame by frame won't be a challenge!

[QUOTE=chaosof99;30350711]BTW, Hovercraft. You made a quip in a closed thread on the main board about Hartnell being a bad fight because he has terrible balance?

Was this just a joke on Hartnell's skating ability, or do you really think that? [B]Hartnell's actually a pretty good fighter.

Hartnell is not a good fighter. Hartnell fights with a visor and makes no attempt to ever remove it. He pulls guys down on top of him in at least half of his fights after he lands a punch. Hartnell has zero pride when it comes to fisticuffs. Point in his favor though....he doesn't turn down many. BTW, I love having Hartnell on this team because guys hate playing against him.

what is it that Rangers fans used to chant at Potvin?

oh yeah "Potvin sucks"

Hartnell is a good fighter. He wins most of them. He actually fights. Not many hug fests. The players he fights often have visors too.

Oh and, when hartnell fights, is usually off the cuff, not staged.

can someone please tell Nodl to drive to the net just once in a while when he has the puck coming down the wing. He is so predictable that he will log the puck behind the net and then do whatever.

Hate the visor, please take it off when you fight hartnell unless in some instances there is no time.

The best Hartnell fight was when Godard got him to drop them and Hartnell kneed him in the groin.

Sorry guys, took me a while. Had trouble getting my new PC to run properly, since I didn't put the RAM into the right sockets :X

Anyway, here's the two highlights I promised.

Giroux dropping Michalek with a hip check:

And Richie scoring a goal without looking at the goal or goalie:

Thanks chaos! I didn't realize how much of a no-look goal Richie's was.

I guess our definition of winning a fight differs. Again, IMO Scotty is a no-pride survival fighter. Agree with the no-stage thing though, he's a pretty impulsive pugilist. He has on occasion surprised me with a W.

I wouldn't say no pride. guys with no pride play the way SCotty does and then turtle like a Pat Kaleta. Hartnell is accountable and he doesn't run from people. He didn't have to drop them with Goddard there, for example. I'm not saying he's any great fighter, but he's decent at worst, IMO.

Maybe I'll give in at "mediocre/ok fighter." Agreed, Scotty doesn't turtle and does try to back up his abrasive style between the whistles. I say no pride fighter because he will drop to his back and pull guys down on top of him to avoid getting beaten. Probably pisses opponents off even more and is a lot smarter than getting whaled on.
