Nik is most likely looking for somewhere between 3 and 3.5 mil per year on a 3-4 year deal. Right now, the Flyers have to choose between Nik and Leino as to which we resign next season and for Philly fans (and management based upon what has been said to his agent) it's a no brainer, it's Leino. Me, I hope we trade Carle and use his freed up money to resign Nik. Mezzaros has playedvery well this year and can take over for Carle along side Pronger.

Nik has played very well over the last month or so (since coming back from a minor injury). Our coach road his butt hard about his work ethic and he has responded very well. One game last week he got knocked off the puck (actually knocked down) and rather than get up slowly and be late coming back into our zone, he popped right up, chased the dman behind the goal before they broke out, CHECKED the dman (cant remember who but he was much bigger than Nik and was one of their tough guys), stole the puck and set up a beautiful scoring chance. He took two punches from the dman for his efforts and didn't let that deter him. THAT is how he is playing now. He has played well and recieved praise (and more ice time)from our coach in the process. That kind of play makes many of us in Philly wanting him back again (if we can afford him).

If the Flyers had the cap room I'd be interested in keeping him too.

I didn't want him in the first place because of his reputation but I've changed my mind. He is what he is and while he's obviously not a perfect hockey player and I wouldn't want 2 of him on one team, he has value.

Reading through the thread I see people calling him lazy and soft but I don't think that's entirely accurate. His work ethic and relative toughness is on the low side of average in my opinion (for a skill winger).

His biggest flaws are decision making outside of the O zone and failing to keep his game simple.

Well prepare yourself for the 1 or 2 horrible turnovers a game that always turn into goals (like him trying to dangle around everyone in the defensive zone).

I was fine with the signing in the beginning, but once he always tries to continually dangle around 3 or 4 people and 99%of the time loses the puck, it gets quite annoying.

Your facts are incorrect. He has 17 points, playing 19.92% of the time with Richards and Nodl, 15.12% with Carter and JVR, 10% with Carter and Giroux, etc etc. He has only played 5.4% of the time on the 4th line.

If that is what Zherdev is looking for he'll definitely end up back in the KHL. I could see him getting anywhere between 2-3 million but I doubt any team would be willing to commit to more than 2 years.

Lol at all the haters. I really do think he'd flourish in Pittsburgh though.

I don't necessarily agree with you on everything, but I have to give you that -- Charlize Theron is soooo much hotter than Pam Andersen. You seem to be moving in the right direction.

Zherdev has impressed me this season, he is consistent and works hard every night. However, I'm not sure if he could fit with the ducks. He is a skilled forward that we need.

Are you sure that's Zherdev you're watching? I am a HUGE Zherdev fan and incredibly biased, but Zherdev can be a lazy bum at times. He's been a healthy scratch 5 times for that reason.

I wouldn't mind him on the Devils he would be good on the fourth line.

At a good price for two years or so.

I bust a gut laughing. He'd easily be in your top-6, especially with Langenbrunner gone.

Edmonton needs more size and toughness, not more soft and dangle. No way.

I think they might want to try Kovalchuk on their forth line

As a Flyers fan I like the different type of game he brings to the table. However, Ville Leino is more important.

No he wouldn't.

Our Wingers:
Kovalchuk
Parise
Elias
Zubrus
Clarkson
Tedenby
Zharkov
Rolston
Palmieri

Zherdev would be in front of Clarkson,Zharkov and Rolston.

He'll probably be shifted between 3rd and 4th line if the Devils ever do sign him.

no but I could see it happening if C mac wants to much money.

Zherdev-Grabo-kuelmin that could very well be our 2nd line next year
