Serious question: Would Howsen send Filatov to workout in the summer with Gary Roberts? I really see the physical issue as being the main reason why he's not doing well.

Would Filatov be open to it? He'd probably be a monster with 30 more pounds.

You realize that is a bunch of mediocre players for a potential star? No.

Potential star that couldn't stay on the roster of one of the worst teams in the NHL...and in 23 GP scored a whopping 0 goals and pitching in 7 assists...a potential star who bolted to the KHL mid season after playing 13 games and posting up 2 goals 0 assists...and after playing mostly with Vermette-Umberger...

...for a young guy who's proven himself a worthy center on a VERY Center Deep Penguins team and leads the AHL in points...and a mid level prospect, and a big grinder tough guys, plus a pick...

I'd take that deal, ship his arse off, and never look back.

Because it gives the Penguins a decent player to put with Malkin at the expense of what we have excess of. I didn't say he wasn't good, I was just saying don't over value him.

He would be the next Alex Ovechkin.

Nah. He wouldn't be Ovy. He wouldn't play physical or with the passion he does. He would just be able to withstand the rigors of the NHL game, not get knocked off the puck, and go into areas to use his skill without getting mashed.

I suspect he would. Filatov has always paid attention to his conditioning and in fact put on 15 lbs in the off-season, going from 170 to 185. The thing about the kid is that for the most part he is willing to do what the team asks. I wonder if by gaining some muscle and weight it threw him off just enough to effect his skills short term. I'm guessing he may need time to add more weight and then a bit more time to adjust to it. He could disappear, then take the NHL by storm in 12-13.

haha maybe not like Ovy but you have to admit Filatov has soo much upside being as young as he still is.
