Max Talbot

Once the Penguins are healthy a Penguin forward on a one-way contract needs to be removed from the roster. I have absolutely no reason to suspect Talbot in particular is on the block, but someone like him, Rupp, Godard, Connor, or perhaps Asham will be on the way out.

I'm curious to know what Max Talbot would be worth (if anything) in a trade. UFA at the end of the year; current cap hit 1.05 million.

2nd round pick.

Dominic Moore got a 2nd round pick, and Talbot imo is a better player.

He's clutch in the playoffs...Pens keep him and let him walk on July 1st if they don't intend on resigning him.

I'd rather trade Kennedy or Asham.

If I'm the Pens, I keep Talbot around. He's cash money nearly every postseason. He performs well in the clutch and is a great character guy.

. I'd trade Asham if the Pens really need room.

2nd round pick seems fair.

Probably not but his clutch reputation and stanley cup ring probably puts him in a similar bracket value wise (well at the deadline anyway).

Pens would be better off keeping Talbot around for the playoffs, but a 2nd round pick for a guy who is a bottom 6'er is hard to pass up, if teams would in fact offer that.

As much as I love the guy I really don't think he is. Moore's value was at an all-time high when that deal went down, and Talbot hasn't come anywhere near producing like that recently.

I'd be ecstatic for a 2nd rounder for Max. That second rounder could mean the difference in a winger without giving up our first rounder if we package them both in a deal or something.

The better value is just to keep him for the playoffs.

If he's truly on the table, I can see the Avs making a play since they just lost Flash for the season. If it would only take a 3rd, I could see the Avs doing it.

True. Moore only had 6 more points at the time of the deal, and Talbot is a better playoff performer. It's roughly even, although the Pens would not do Talbot for a 2nd. They need him.

Dominic Moore always gets traded for more than he should. We got a third round pick for him when he was on the fourth line with 15 points complaining about ice time. Ironically, it was Talbot who took over his third line center job.

I was talking two years ago when Moore got traded to the Sabres, and had totally forgotten he got dealt last year too . Obviously my brain is not functioning today.
