Proposal: Seabrook to MTL

I feel like our Achilles heel last year in the playoffs was that Hmarlik and Spacek and the rest of our d, such as Gill and Gorges were just exhausted! 2 long 7games series, playing big minutes, after a late push to get in the playoffs. With Seabs, we would be able to spread out the minutes a bit more. Yes, we would need to make another trade to get a top 6 winger.
Habs might need to add a tad more...

Subban - Gill
Hamrlik - Wizniewski
Spacek - Seabrook

Then in off season:

Re-sign Hammer : 2 years 2-2.5 million. He will defs take a home town discount.
Re-sign Gorges :multi year deal at 3-3.5 per
Re sign the Wz: 3 year deal 3.5-4 per
Re sign Seabs: 3 year 5 million per

Markov leaves and Gorges walks off into the sunset after signing his deal ?

None of those defenseman are number 1 dmen. I'd rather keep Markov on the team, re-sign him. Re-sign Wiz and keep Pacs, Weber and Andrei.

Markov > Seabrook
Pacioretty > Nothing
Weber > Nothing
Kostitsyn > Nothing.

Seabrook would probably want a 1 year deal to be a UFA, or a long term deal. Nothing in the middle.

Markov - Wiz
Spacek - Subban
Gorges - Weber

Or, trade Weber in a package for a top 6 forward and sign a d.

If it's July 8th, or so and most of, if not all the good d are signed and Montréal let Marky go and could re-sign wiz, then yeah, take this approach.

i dont think markov will be resigned as he has become way to injury prone although he is a great player the risk reward on him is to much risk

I honestly think this is a pretty solid trade for both teams. Montreal could use the help on D and Chicago gets some good young assets.

Terrible deal for Hawks

Pacioretty is still a major ? and is sorta comparable to RW Jack Skille as far as development

Hawks have several dmen in system better or as good as Weber

The 1st will be a late round pick

The 2nd will be a late round pick

So basically the Habs give up nothing of real value to there team and get a top pairing dman while the Hawks take on a bunch of ? and downgrade our team for years to come

Not enough for Seabrook. I don't know what Montreal really has that is a glaring need for Chicago other than maybe Plekanec, but Montreal isn't trading him.

Because the obvious thing for the defending Cup champion to do is trade away proven veterans for young assets before the playoff run.

If you've watched him this season you would know how good he is. He's going to be a great top-6 player and I could see him hitting 30+ goals. He's such a solid player.

If Chicago was to get AK in a deal, he is RFA at season's end. Bowman could pass, and free up the money to re-sign Sharp long-term. Pretty sure with Hossa, Kane, Toews, Campbell, Keith that there isn't enough $$$ to pay both Seabrook and Sharp. Would AK + Tinordi work for Seabrook?

sharp still has another year left on his contract, and we get $4.15 million freed up from bonuses

The Hawks need Seabrook much more than they need good young assets. The Hawks have at least 6 good young prospects who have a legit shot at playing at the NHL level, two of which could probably play this season (Leddy & Morin) with Olsen, Lalonde, Beach and Kruger ready within the next 2 to 3 years.

I hope Bowman resigns Seabrook soon so these Seabrook trade proposals can stop.
