And even then, officially all we may know is who wins the claim. May not know how many claims were submited, just who won it (or if he clears, we'll get word that he clears).

Even if we take the 'both apply' view on this, I still don't see where DET would priority like CapGeek stated as they are not eligible to make a claim on their own waiver. Thus, they cannot be considered an unsuccessful claiming team that would get first crack on second waivers.

capgeek deleted the original 3 part tweet from yesterday and updated with a new 3 part tweet. Matt no longer asserts that detroit gets any preferential rights.

Why would Islanders even consider picking him up when they are a shoe in for a top 3 draft pick?

Prediction

If they pass

Mixed feelings if we get him, he might play well and make us draft lower. But the team is hard to watch with AHL calibre goaltending lately.

They are a show in almost every year. Clearly the draft option is not really working....

what should be interesting if a team that sucks grabs him and he refuses to report--which he might

for those who don't know--Nabby married a woman that made a mint in computers/internet so he is not hard up for money and walking away from say the NYI and waiting till the off season to sign with someone would not be a hardship for him

Yes Im sure the multi-multi-multi millions of dollars Nabby himself has made isnt enough for him to be well off without taking a job as an NHL goalie for a year, thank god for his "well off wife".

$200k is a burrito from taco bell to him. I think he only wants to play for a chance to win a cup. Bragging rights is his motivation, not the chump change.

He is nearly playing for league minimum, it isn't like he is turning down millions.

BTW, If say the Devils claimed him, would the 24 hr period need to go or could they just announce it officially since they get 1st claim and nobody beats them (that last part kinda sounds weird referring to the Devils this year)

Considering that Tabitha was a community college student and waitress when Nabokov met her in Lexington, while playing for the AHL Kentucky Thoroughblades, I find that claim somewhat dubious.

About time he came around. As for 13.20(b) and 13.23 both applying, I admit it's theoretically possible but I'll maintain my prior position and say that I don't believe 13.20(b) would apply in Nabokov's situation. Even though Bob McKenzie takes this same stance, the only way we'd ever know for sure if it came to this point and we'd have to watch how it would play out with the League.

No, deal Conks to Detroit and demand back Tomas Tartar. If they refuse, Jan Mursak.

Not in 1995 or so when Nabby came into the league, they were still using the telegraph and horseback mail

matt came around sometime around 9PMish today.

also, i agree that the only way we know for sure is if it actually happens, and then we can see how the league handles it, but cmon, the entire point of this argument is suggesting what MIGHT happen should it come to this.
