With Ottawa in a state of turmoil. What would it take to get him to Philly? I realize with his cap hit we would have to move some money. But I always thought in the right situation he could really flourish. Do not get me wrong here I like the make up of the Flyers right now, but he would be a very good addition to a already strong team. Fire away.
What does Michalek make anyway? Who's spot do you want to give to him?
The only name I can think of maybe is Zherdev, but I'd rather hang onto Zherdev honestly.
you can say your team doesn't need him, doesn't want to have his salary, doesn't want to give up the requisite assets, whatever, i would agree to any or all of that. but to say you would take zherdev over 9MM if you could do an even swap is insane.
As an Ottawa fan I would deal Michalek for nothing. His salary and injury history and lack of effectiveness since he came to Ottawa means to me he has negative value. The problems with his contract is that it is for too long and for too much money.
He is a decent player even with the way he has played this season coming back from surgery but he has the contract of a 60 point 30 goal player and I doubt he is going to come back to that ever again.
Why would Philly want him? Of any team in the NHL Philly has the least need for him, they are stacked at forward, and have cap issues going ahead so why take on a 4 year contract to an overpaid forward? Makes no sense.
As an Ottawa fan, I would love to keep Milan. It's taken four months . . . but his knees are finally not bugging him. You can see it in his game. He's faster and faster with each passing game, his jump is starting to show. He's started to combine his big size and speed which has lead to many chances.
Michalek's finally starting to turn the table around.
Lately, he's been playing great. He looks to be getting his speed back after knee surgery and is able to beat out defenders and creating scoring chances. Great news, considering he hasn't looked good at all for 13 months. He's still young (25) and signed long term to a high risk contract that could turn out to be a decent contract if he keeps up his recent play.
I like Milan, but he's not necessary on the Flyers. I'm all for depth, but do we really need more? Might be time to take it easy with trades and just start building up the cupboard again. It's looking mighty bare.
This makes no sense at all. At this point, about the only way to improve the Flyers is a top tier goalie or a franchise forward. I doubt either will happen this season

They could actually really use a playoff improvement for the Carcillo/Shelley spot. I'd like to see them go after Konopka.
