He's had more than one injury this season... His adductor (sp) was his latest, he's had swelling and he's also had tightness and those "sick" days. DP needs to retire due to injuries. He will never play 40+ games in a season.
Yeah, Isles situation at the time was worse even than CBJ's admittedly. Nevertheless, it seems ironic that this rule being fairly applied was a "dick move" at the tima nd is now "a team making itself better."
For the record, I like this move for the Isles and I hope it does improve the team.
I don't disagree. This is a professional league, and you do what you can (within the rules) to get ahead.
Ken Holland, of all people, understands this. So should everyone else around the NHL.
**BREAKING NEWS** NY Islanders have let it be known that they will put a claim in for Evgeni Nabokov if he is signed by any NHL team

no he ****ing hasn't
people on this board made the prediction the moment that Roloson got traded the NYI would put a claim in if someone signed NAbby!!
As for the other stories--I busted him on four of his claims and he booted me from his twitter account--he is full of **** and he has broken nothing--he uses sources outside of the new york area--mostly Jim Matthieson of the Edmotnon Journal-waits a week and then tweets what Matthieson wrote on the previous sunday--he is ripping off stuff from other sources and saying it is his own
Three sources had Langenbrunner being asked to waive his NTC at training camp and then again in December--this twitter idiot repeats stuff after other people have said it

Obviously, Wings had no chance of getting him. I'm sure Holland recognized that at the price. Is it possible, however, that Holland did this to build a relationship with Nabby for possible talks going into free agency?
The same people complaining the Isles made this move were the same ones complaining that they're "tanking" when they traded Wiz & Roloson. They're the same ones who were wondering if John Tavares is going to stay after his ELC is up. The same ones who bash the NYI constantly for having an AHL caliber roster & how they "aren't even trying."
I guess the only time to "try" is during the offseason.
For a young team that has been a lottery club for the last 2 or 3 years, winning more games & having the ability to develop your good goalie prospect properly is FAR more important than picking #3 (which they still may do anyway) in a meh draft class.
If they didn't pick him up & they left Poulin in here to rot, then these same fans would be screaming at how the NYI don't know how to develop their players either.
Its really amazing how many people on these boards promote tanking. I know we've been ****ed since that 20 game losing streak but I refuse to root against my team for draft picks regardless of our current state.
It was a smart move by the Isles. Nabakov should report if he wants any good contract next summer. If he refuses then he lowers his value by a few million and might not even get offers. Now he has a chance to play a lot of games and showcase himself on a weak team. If he plays well his price tag climbs and he won't have much stress on him to get the Isles to the playoffs. I think he'll do good and get a nice contract out of it.
His agent, Don Meehan, went on record to Bob McKenzie declaring that Nabokov would report to the team that acquired him on waivers. His audition for a contract for next season will be with the Islanders.
This needs quoting. Derp. He's going to be in an Isles jersey.
