I'm down here for work and I read recently that they had the two lowest attendance figures in their team history in the past couple months.

Hurting I guess. You'd think with all the snow, people here would be taking to hockey

Of all the poor attendance figures this year in all cities, I think the one that surprises me the most is the 11k at the last Ranger Islander game at the Coliseum. Thats a problem, because us Ranger fans are responsible as well for not selling out the place. Seeing entire sections empty at a Ranger Islander game, let alone any hockey game, is depressing. I hope Atlanta gets a nice crowd tonight, hopefully some Ranger fans will help fill the seats.

Just found out there is no local TV broadcast of the game in Atlanta.
How pathetic is that.
Somebody please tell me why there is a franchise in Atlanta

Well, it could be that or you could play it another way. Suppose the average attendance of a Thrashers game is around 4,000 people (I don't know the numbers, but just stay with me...) -- let's suppose 1,000 more people show up to a game for whatever reason, that can be spun positively as an 25% increase in attendance. Huge!

A lot of that is due to the Isles ridiculous prices. Why pay so much to go to that dump when you can go to Prudential Center for the same prices. Also, no mass transportation goes out there otherwise I would go and I'm sure others would as well.

How sad is that. Hockey ranks behind demolition derby in Atlanta

This will be the second time hockey has failed in Atlanta.

Its really time to get a team in Quebec city. You have the potential for a whole new sellout profit gaining franchise, as opposed to one that drags the league down.

exactly. The cheapest face value ticket for the Islanders is like $48 after fees. Thats ridiculous for a team that is that awful. Also, living in NJ, it's difficult to get to LI. I could take the LIRR and then take a cab, but thats way too much. And driving all the way there would be horrible with all the traffic and etc.

But I bought my tickets on stubhub for 24.00 a piece, so how much of it is really due to prices?

Wang has basically thrown his hands up and given up. Just a matter of time before they fold up or move.

Is it a common thing for NHL teams to not have a game broadcasted locally?

Game should be enjoyable, hopefully there's a lot more scoring from the Rangers. Maybe the young guys like Stepan, Zucca, and Koralik can spark something. I would really like to see a goal from Koralik after his strong effort against the Canes.

idk, the Atlanta board is claiming 10 teams dont have all 82 games televised in one way or the other. I can't imagine this to be true, and if it is, that needs to change asap. Every single game should be telecasted to both fanbases.

The team is so banged up. I don't think this is going to bode well. The All-Star break will be so welcome.

Agreed, without Callahan the Rangers don't have much leadership.
