And in great news, Grachev had a hat trick tonight.

I think it's time we call Grachev up and give him another shot sometime this season.

This was the kind of game gabby should take over. Nobody on either side was moving well.

He had one moment at the top of the third before the pp's where he stated really nicely but that was it. Really disappointing.

Gilory made some decent plays in the third.

Pavelec robbed our guys multiple times.

Good: MZA, Boyle, Gilroy, the fact that Girardi/Prust are only day to day

Bad: Five New York Rangers vs. Less than Five Other Guys

Redden:

Oh yeah, that 5-on-3 slipped my mind for a bit. That was the worst display of creativity I've ever seen. Definitely Redden worthy.

I wanted to pour salt in my eyes after that display of non-cohesiveness.

POTG: Boyle/Wolski

Not just cause they scored, but they created chances and cause turnovers. Wolski has been more effective in the D zone then people thought. Voted for Boyle in the poll

The Good: Physical Play

All our players, including zuccarello and gaborik got in on hitting people this game. McDonagh was a beast on that one shift. The overall physicality they showed tonight was great

The Bad: 5 on 3 Powerplay (or the PP in general)

How do you have Zuccarello, a great passer, on his off wing and Gaborik who has a great shot on his strong side wing? Shouldn't there be some one-timers going across there if they were reversed?

The Redden: Chris Drury

Cannot wait to see him off this team. It is clear he is only effective in the defensive zone and on the PK. We have enough guys who can do that and be effective on offense.

This has been a problem for the majority of the season. How can the coaches let that happen anyway? It screws up everything...

You would think that with all the money infused into this organization, they could afford to hire a coach to teach the damn PP.

I noticed during the two games he's been in I'm hearing Kolarik's name every 5 seconds. This is usually a good sign.

On the powerplay they were playing to this position highlighted in green.

THAT IS SO EASY TO DEFEND AGAINST !!!!!!

1. You've made it completely easy for the opposing players to clog up ALL alleys. You don't even need a triangle. Heck one player positioned well knocks out all the possible moves.

2. Once that position gets the puck, where do they go?
a. back to the d? >results in a terrible shot opportunity through a lot of traffic, which we know our guys do not really do a whole lot.
b. SHOOT? Hell no. Only a handful of players are talented enough to pull that area off. We don't really have them.

3. We put two guys infront of the net, but even on the 5-3 it's not like they were big bodies blocking the goalie.(Man, that first goal by ATL made me kinda miss Antro for that reason)
Having that other body down low on the far side of the net is completely useless. That player is essentially there for getting garbage, but we don't put in front. He could be there to catch dumps behind the net, but again, we don't really do that when we're "cycling".

Rant over. Glad we got those points.

Boyle, what a play.

how can you miss the good of allowing only 3 shots on goal after the second period?

Our guys in Atlanta are afraid to shoot. Everyone wants to be the nice guys and pass. Ugh!

Nice gritty game by the Rangers. Congrats to Lundqvist for winning the skills competition.

Yeah I saw 22 about 3/4 of the way through the 3rd and was like, well now. I can't say we were playing incredible defense. I guess you guys were missing Kane out there.

When Buff had the puck in ot coming in our zone I thought, well it's over...

just got back home from the game.

from my point of view, the best player on the ice all game long was Sean Avery. he had an OUTSTANDING game even if he wasnt on the scoresheet.
