Sure he was overmatched but I'm glad he did it. He doesnt need fighting lessons because he isnt a fighter. But in situations like that you stick up for your teammate, especially your defense partner. This team has been banged up, the best thing for them to do right now is stick together through it.

wowzah DZ back just in case Girardi is out. Makes sense since they need a 7th Dman . Lets hope Girardi is ok

Grachev got a trick 2nite. This is his chance to show what he's got. Weiss is going back to the Whale which makes sense

So Grachev at C?

The 1 good thing about all these injuries...

It's forcing the Rangers to give big time minutes to their kids. And boy oh boy are the kids playing well (im talking Anisimov, Stepan, MZA, McDonagh, Staal, etc)

What this might mean is that, we may actually see one of the most home grown teams in the NHL next season. Is it possible we could see something like this?

Dubinsky - Stepan - Gaborik
Wolski - Anisimov - Callahan
Grachev - Boyle - Zuccarello-Aasen
Kreider - Avery - Prust

Staal - Girardi
McDonagh - Sauer
MDZ - Eminger/Valentenko/Kundratek

Start Kreider off on the 4th line and let him work his way up.

The youngest team in the league gets even younger, but, is probably significantly better than the team that is in the playoff hunt right now as we speak.

This is a very exciting time to be a ranger fan, its almost as though we have too many quality home grown players at the moment, and not enough spots to play them in.

I counted 12 HG players.

That's insane.

isnt it? and honestly, i dont think its outside the realm of possibility. i think that could be the roster we see out of camp next year...not necessarily those lines, but that team.

and u know what...i can live with that.

Definitely the silver lining to these injuries, a few players who otherwise may not get the chance are trying to prove they can hang in the NHL. I am happy for them.

and really, you can make the case that guys like Prust and Boyle are almost home grown in that, they were garbage elsewhere, and are now integral parts of this teams future.

I wouldnt say Prust was grabage in calgary. The fans seemed to love him from what i recall reading on this board when the trade was made because of the calgary fans that came here to post.

Boyle was still developing. Seemed as though he needed someone to push him a bit aka Torts. Big guy who is being very productive. I know he's not Vinny L but theres a similarity in the way that Torts had helped Vinny L develop and how Boyle is becoming the power forward that the kings hoped he would be under torts watch.

Wouldnt be surprised if Hagelin makes a push for a spot out of camp though I do see him starting in hartford.

..and from everything I've read about and seen from Horak, it's very possible he makes some noise in camp as well. All I know is, I'm elated to see what the future holds for this franchise.

That's a pretty thin silver lining though.

When we made that "Jokinen deal," I remember the Flames' fans were only pissed that they lost Prust. They loved him.

He wasn't garbage there by any means, more that Sutter is an absolute idiot and didn't know what he had.

I understand your point though.

I'd be surprised is Horak made any type of legitimate push next year. He needs to add a good amount of muscle and learn to play away from the puck before he even sniffs the NHL. I think he's at least two years away.

do you think if prospal doesnt come back this season he will play next season? like if we signed him to a 1 mil deal or something. im just wondering cause i feel like his career would end on a crappy note and he was good for us last year.

I think if this injury causes him to miss this season, it will probably end his career.

If he can't play this year, I doubt we give him a guaranteed contract. Probably a training camp invite.

I kinda feel the same way with that. The rangers are in a great position right now and theres no reason to rush anyone because they dont have to. I think Horak is a solid player. I really like his game, however, I do think he needs to fill out body wise.

But its nice to have so many young players making their way towards the NHL.

Almost half of the team (nine players) that were on the team at the end of training camp are either injured or on the IR.

That's wild.
