Rangers Prospect Poll: #17 THREE-WAY TIE-BREAKER

Chad Johnson, Mikhail Pashnin and Andrew Yogan all came within a couple of votes of each other. Let's put it up for a 3-way tie-breaker. Everyone has exactly 24 hours to vote and then the polls will automatically close even if someone is just 1 vote up.

Chad Johnson

Height 6.02 -- Weight 175 -- Shoots L

2009-10 Hartford Wolf Pack AHL 47 games 2.54 24-18-2 0.911
2009-10 New York Rangers NHL 5 games 2.35 1-2-1 0.919
2010-11 Hartford Wolf Pack/CT Whale AHL 31 games 2.60 13-14-3 0.903

Mikhail Pashnin
Defense
Born May 11 1989
Height 5.11 -- Weight 187

2009-10 CSKA Moscow KHL 44 1 4 5 52
2010-11 CSKA Moscow KHL 34 0 0 0 28

Andrew Yogan
Center
Born Dec 4 1991 -- Boca Raton, FL
Height 6.03 -- Weight 202 -- Shoots L

Went with Chad Johnson. He's shown signs of quality at times, though has been inconsistent.

I can't vote for a guy who slipped to the 4th round and then got badly injured. That he was once thought of highly does not override these two concerns put together.

I also can't vote for a small defenseman who can't play offense. You have to either be big or score, otherwise NHL is not in your future.

Yogan. I don't think Chad is an NHL quality starter and will be an average backup or stuck in the AHL.

Russian defenseman, prospect Mikhail Pashnin wows New York Rangers
There's enough said there for me.

Quote:
Day 2 of prospects camp at the Rangers' practice rink on Tuesday saw a little of everything from 21-year-old Mikhail Pashnin, not least of all his natural proclivity toward contact and the persistent flash of a mischievous smile. That's what the Rangers are seeing in their first up-close look at Pashnin, the 5-11, 187-pound blueliner who went at No. 200 – 11th-to-last – to the Blueshirts in the 2009 NHL draft, but No. 1 overall in Russia's Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) draft of the same year.

Pashnin said he is obliged to the KHL for one more year – presumably the chief reason he fell so far in the NHL draft
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/ho...k_rangers.html
His skills are up there, whether or not he'll play in NA is questionable, that's the only reason why he went late. Other than that, this kid can play and his style seems North American.

I know he was drafted later and gets less attention because he's Russian. But other than that, he's a nice defender with an edge and there's no reason why we should think of him any differently than Vtank and Vtank can be just as good as Sauer and Sauer can be just as good as Girardi. They're all pretty much the same kind of defender just one is a few years behind the other. McD is more like Staal then like those 4 due to skating, stick handling, passing etc. Good Job by NYR scouting to makes sure we've got a solid flow for years to come.

Pashnin gets my vote, hands down.

Went with Yogan on sheer upside alone. Can't see Ochocinco being more than a AHL-NHL tweener.

Pashnin. He's already too far down the list IMO.

Great... there will be a 3-way tie after a 3-way tie-breaker.

My money is on Pashnin never playing an NHL game.

Johnson for me.

I just don't see the big upside in Pashnin and it's also far from a sure thing that he'll ever come over, and even if he does, that he will stay if he doesn't get a spot in camp. With Johnson I am missing the improvement. I think his play has stagnated if not declined ever since he returned to the AHL from his short and solid stint in the NHL.

So it's Yogan for me despite his injury. But he was ranked as a 2nd rounder after all so he has quite some upside.

Johnson. Looked pretty decent last year when he was up with the Rangers. Probably not a starter but should eventually be an NHL'er for a while.

Yogan. Johnson won't be much more than an AHL goalie or shaky NHL backup.

Considering Johnson has already played in the NHL, while Yogan hasn't even played this year at all due to injury, how can there even be a debate between the two? Right now Johnson is unquestionably the better prospect.

Yogan had potential first round upside.

Johnson has looked nothing more than average, even at the AHL level.

RangerEsq, you should just take the two that don't win in this poll and do a runoff between them. It's obvious who everyone is going to vote for next time.

Yogan here for sure. Love that he fought through what turned out to be a bad injury. Can drop the gloves and play the game pretty well. Can finish the year in Erie strong, play next year as a borderline overager and hit the A in 2012.

For those that missed it in the Prospects Thread, Yogan is skating/lifting/doing everything again, and should be back within the next few weeks.

With the tie breaker being so close why don't you skip 18 & 19 and just take the votes off of this vote. It is obvious that people think all three are either 17th, 18th or 19th. Save time and effort to vote the obvious again and again.

Who would be 18th out of Ocho Cinco and Pashnin? 30 people (myself included) went with Yogan. Who knows which way those 30 votes would swing. Pasnin gets my vote.

Yeah, I'd like to have an actual round of voting.
