Trade Proposal

Looking at how this team is playing our d continues to be one of the strenghts of this team. With our youth and depth on the back line should the Rangers consider moving Girardi in a package for scoring up front? Or is that going to weaken the back line too much and force the young'uns to play too many minutes.

If trading Girardi is an option can he fetch someone like Getzlaf or Ryan from Anaheim? How much more would the Rangers have to add? How about:

Girardi and Grachev for Ryan - does Anaheim bite?

Also, how much value does MDZ have? Should he or could he be sent to Anaheim as part of a deal for either Getzlaf or Ryan.

Don't think that is anywhere near what it would take to get Ryan or Getzlaf.

For Getzlaf, you'd be looking at Stepan/Kreider, Girardi/MDZ, Grachev, 1st and probably some more. So it'd never happen lol.

Personally, Girardis an untouchable for me right now.

No way Anaheim trades Ryan or Getzlaf for just Girardi and Grachev. And don't get me wrong I'd love to have one of those 2, but trading Girardi also opens up a big hole on defense assuming another move wasn't made.

I don't even think Anaheim would do that on my PS3 NHL 2011.

If Girardi would be moved, it would be in a deal, along with a young roster forward and/or pick and/or prospect to get a better defenseman in return. And no chance ANA would make that deal.

Unless were getting a serious overpayment i am not for moving girardi in any capacity.

Hes a top pairing d-man and is on a great contract for the next few years.

For most of the season he has been our best d-man but staal has been playing great lately.

We would not trade Girardi for a forward, it wouldnt happen. We are developing such a great blue-line for years to come. To be honest Girardi is really underrated and him and staal are an untouchable pairing. They play so well together.

hahaha. From a value point of view, I don't think they would do that. I don't think the value is far off though given Girardi's rise as a top pairing d-man. Anaheim would have to have some background motivation/reason for moving Ryan like contracts or chemistry or locker room issues - something like that. His internal value would have to drastically drop for Anaheim to consider that offer as fair. At this point, Ryan is still a 60 pt/season player but I think Anaheim still has high hopes for him (given his contract extension amount). If Anaheim realizes they are paying $5M+ for a career 60 pt scorer, they may seek to get better value but then at that point, do you really want to trade a top pairing defenseman for a 60 pt player who makes $5M?

I wouldn't give all that for Getzlaf even if he wasn't ugly. To be sure, we ARE talking about Ryan Getzlaf, not Sidney Crosby.

And to be sure, we ARE talking about Ryan Getzlaf, a player that will put up ~90 points every year for the next 7-9 years, easy.

Let's not undersell him, folks.

Girardi has played good this year but personally he is nowhere near untouchable. He is worth a decent player in return but untouchable is Stall not Girardi.

He's put up 90 points exactly once in six seasons. Let's not oversell him either.

And he's on pace for 74 this year. That's not something I wont find anywhere else.

I'm not interested in moving Girardi... He's going to have one of the best value contracts in the NHL for the next 3 full seasons....

Girardi's been labeled as a core player. Don't think they're looking to move him. He's not a bona fide 1st pairing dmen, but he's a serviceable one. Considering his salary, age, and chemistry with Staal, I just can't imagine him being moved.

We just moved Rozsival too, who was our other RD who regularly logged 20+ a night.

McDonagh-Del Zotto/Kundratek

Considering all of those things, and the depth on defense and abundency of similar defensemen and his lack of speed, I think he should be moved. And he is not a bona fide 1st pairing defenseman. He is no Chara, Pronger, McInnis, Leetch, and so on not even close to that level.

This proposal was probably just as silly the first time you posted it. A trade with TWO NTCs? Jovo is UFA so you are essentially dumping Girardi for Hanzal? Not to mention PHX is poor.
