Why? Unless you're a branch manager at Dunder-Mifflin, if you're awful at your job, you're either fired or doing something else. They're credible, respected people in this game, and if they weren't they wouldn't be trotted out on national networks embarrassing themselves. Although, I'm aware people would rather listen to the ingrates at Comcast do nothing but collectively stroke the team the team for 2 hours without any cognitive game analysis outside of waiting for Coatesy to get drunk enough to fall on to the ice and get hit with a puck, and Jim Jackson pretending his dog died every time the Flyers get called for a penalty. National TV games are so much more refreshing than listening to those twits, maybe that's why I appreciate these games more.
Tactical analysis, he's not even close. When he talks like a former player he's fine, when he talks like a coach/GM not really. I refuse to watch NESN, but when he's on CBC, it's usually the former.
Surely you are not suggesting that you get meaningful hockey analysis on an NBC broadcast? They hardly even give play by play, they are too busy talking about other things while the play is going on. It's beyond annoying. That and NBC crew sucks at showing the actual game, they never show replays and are slow cutting the cameras over to scrums and fights away from the play.
