Jarret Stoll anyone ???? [Fixed Typo]

I'm just wondering what teams with a missing 2nd line center are willing to offer.
I would prefer picks over player but if someone has someone of real interest
please offfer.

Keep in mind this is a civil discussion and i'm asking for offers not for questions.

What are you looking for, for him? Jochen Hecht and a 2nd round pick? The money would work out. I doubt that would get Stoll, but it's just a thought. I'd say Connolly, but he'll be a UFA, and I doubt you'd want that.

Kurri....stop. Maybe you need to lay off YOUR pipe for a little. Id love to know who takes the 2nd line center spot, and no Lokti is not ready for that nor is Zus/Richie good enough for the spot

I usually agree with you, but not here

I'm interested in Zeus this offseason. Do you think it's possible that he could be a #2 Center for the Sabres? He wouldn't be a true #2, but do you think that could work?

That could be a slight problem. Could you give me a small scouting report on him? I know he's alright, and he usually puts up 45 points every year, but I'm an East Coaster, and don't watch many Kings games.

The best case scenario would be having Jarret Stoll as our 3rd line center next year. Maybe Schenn can step into that second line center role, or perhaps sign someone in the offseason. Handzus honestly has been looking so slow lately, I'm not sure how effective he will be with the speed our bottom six seems to be accumulating.

If the Kings are really out of the playoffs by the deadline, I imagine Handzus will be shipped out to a contender for a pick or prospect and a salary dump or something. I really think that Stoll and Williams will be staying with the Kings. The Kings, if they miss the playoffs this season, will be poised to have an excellent season next year, where their window to contend really opens.

Handzus' value comes in his character and leadership. He's a great example for younger players and will basically do anything it takes to win. Kings have used him in all situations for years. He's on our 2nd PP unit, probably our best PK-er, plays against the best players in world on a nightly basis, and is above average in the faceoff circle. Coaches absolutely love this guy.

Offensively, his strengths are his play along the boards and his work in front of the net. He is too slow to really generate offense on the rush or in transition.

I don't see the Kings resigning him and I believe they would listen to any trade offers for him. That being said, he's been vital to our teams maturation.

Alright. That sounds like what the Sabres like. I wouldn't be surprised to see them sign him to a 3 year deal, or something like that. His age is a problem. If he's slow, he'll only get slower. How much does he have left?

That really sounds like the type of player the Sabres would want, though the contract would have to be for 2 years, and no more. A player like Pominville could play with him - defensively responsible, not great on the rush, good offensively. I can see him being a fit as a sort of #2B/#3. Our lack of depth at Center really hurts, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Buffalo sign him and try to slot him in there. Thanks for the info!

Handzus is a good fit as a third centre IMO, I don't think he can really be counted on offensively as much as he use to though.

At this point in time Zues is everything mentioned above with a double take on working hard, being a leader and giving it all he's got.

As far as his offensive abilities, he's pretty much down to assists unless the puck is being cycled in the zone. His goal scoring abilities come from him being willing to stand in front of the net and use his body/hands to screen/tip pucks.

His age and knees have slowed him down a bit but his leadership, hockey smarts (which are pretty amazing) and desire to win makes him a great guy to have on your team and makes up for what his game is missing.

Doesn't Zues have a NTC? I can see the Kings re-signing him in the off season at a huge discount unless some team way over pays for him. The Kings signed Zues to a $4 million a year contract the summer after major knee surgery. That first year he was allowed to get his body/knee in game shape without any pressures to preform and he was not very good. Since then, fully recovered, he's been every thing you would want in a shut down center.

I think he would do well in Buffalo on the third/fourth line for a couple of years but as a Kings fan I would like to see him stay another year or two.

As far as trading Stoll, unless its for a current second line center on a decent 2-3 year deal, it won't happen. Schenn is still a year or two away from being ready size wise and Loki is just going to be to small and should be switched to wing.

Zeus has a NMC. He's not going anywhere unless he wants to.

I usually agree with you, but not here
i tell you

Schenn is getting the #2 center position.
Williams and Smyth would be great mentors for him and we have to use them as loong as we can.

i also think we should consider Richardson for the 3rd center role with Simmonds and Parse as linemates.

all in all it looks like that:

XXX - Kopitar - Brown
Smyth - Schenn - Williams
Parse - Richardson - Simmonds
Clifford - Lewis - (the 4th line specialist we can get for the Stoll pick)

This would be a huge upgrade over the team we have right now.
Handzus would be traded or if he resists to waive, he will end his career on the press box. In reality he isn't teaching anything to Simmonds
