The skill? No, this team isn't going to win on their skill. If they will it will be from a strong forecheck, good goaltending, and strong defensive zone play. We are going to have to scratch and claw for every goal.

This isn't the first month of the season. Most the teams we will be playing will be desperate and in mid-season form. What we have going for us is that, for now, our injury situation is good.

No team in the NHL is going to win by pure skill.

But anyways, perhaps "Talent" would have been a better word to use.

There are teams like Washington that would come closer to qualifying. But that really wasn't the point.

There are plenty of teams that can have an off night and still win. Those are the true skill teams. We aren't. We aren't going to win 5-2 on a regular basis. There are teams that can still win with an off night from the goalie. We aren't.

Without that top end skill or talent, it makes it much harder to win 4 or 5 games in a row at this time of the year. We've created a bad hole as we are looking for above us to tank. I don't see anyone in the top eight that is easy prey.

Worst case, we have to call up someone from Springfield. Not even sure that's a bad thing. Well that wouldn't be worst case, but I won't contemplate that.

The club skated without Antoine Vermette (illness) and Rusty Klesla (lower body), but both are expected to play in the final game before the All-Star Break.

-- Klesla sustained minor injuries to his lips and lower body as he crashed heavily into the end boards in St. Louis after he became entangled with the Blues' Jay McClement. Klesla lie face down on the ice for several moments. His face and knee rammed into the boards. Goaltender Steve Mason was worried his defenseman had re-injured his abdominal and groin muscles, injuries that ended his season last year.
Sorry about your luck Cougar, looks like his lips are out of service for a bit.

Dang it!! No worries. I'll be ready if needed

BTW, the quote Dreamboat used jumped out at me. I didn't pay much attention to it at the time but it was made in sheer frustration at our announcers who never bothered to update Rusty's injury. Scott Arniel was the first to mention it in his post game presser. UNLIKE the several mentions and PICTURE of RJ's new baby.

Thanks again for the updates HERE. I'm telling ya, it's gotten to the point THIS BOARD has become my source for all things Union Blue.
