Rumor - Filatov to the Preds

Ek (a very credible source ) claims the Preds have made or will make an offer for Filatov. While I doubt Poile takes a risk on another Russian because of the Radulov situation, I like what Filatov brings. Maybe Poile thinks Nikita will be an incentive for Raddy to come back? Who knows?

Anyways, what would it take to get him to the Music City?

I can't imagine Nashville would be willing to give that much

I doubt the Jackets show much interest, even with a slight overpayment, because if Filatov puts it together with a divisional rival it would put the proverbial nail in the coffin for Scott Howson's job in Columbus

Have Columbus and Nashville EVER done a deal?

Not to say Howson wouldn't trade Filatov. I understand he offered him for Kevin Bieksa pre-season. Since Nashville doesn't have a top 6 center to send to Columbus, I suspect there would have to be something involving a top pairing defenseman. Filatov + for Weber or Suter.

Don't see that happening.

Me neither, it's just about the only play I could see between these teams, well maybe Franson. It would have to be a blue line deal.

Why even post Eklund stuff when you know it's BS?

CLB wouldn't deal Filatov to the Preds and Preds wouldn't pay the necessary price for him.

For awhile there, I forgot Eklund existed.

Thanks, OP.

I needed this laugh. Thanks.

I can't imagine a team potentially less interested in Filatov.

If this rumor is true, this is how I think it went down...

Poile: "Hey, Scott! How's that POS Filatov working out for you? I'll trade you my tuna sandwich for him"

Howson: "**** Poile"

Poile: "Hey, how's it going?"

Howson: "Can't complain too much. Still looking for that puck-mover, y'know. You still worried about your top-6?"

Poile: "A bit. Hey, y'know, we could solve the problem right here."

Howson: "Yes?"

Poile: "How about, we send you Weber, and you send us Filatov."

Howson: *disbelieving look*

Poile: "Because, you know, maybe the Russian will actually stay this time."

Howson: *disbelieving look*

Poile: "And that RFA negotiation looks pretty stressful, so I'd rather skip it."

Howson: *raised eyebrow*

Poile: "Eh?"

Howson: *bursts out in laughter* "Nice. Very nice."

Poile: *laughing* "Had you going for a minute there, didn't I?"

Howson: "Maybe just for a second. Hey, you want to actually make that deal?" *grin*

Poile: "Not a chance in hell, buddy. Hey, good luck finding your guy."

Howson: "You too."

No way in hell these two teams move more than AHL scrubs between each other.

I think if they are looking for the puck mover they desire, filatov plus a pick could net them blum. I would hate that as a blum fan, but I think that is the value.

and funny story about trading in the division. Did a draft program with the preds during the wilson/pickard draft. in the room we kept trying to trade mason to the blues for a 3rd or 4th round pick. We kept getting told by a guy (i won't say his name bc he still works for the org) "we don't trade within the division" well guess what...

i don't think gms really care about who they trade with if they can make their team better.

I'd do a trade with Nashville if we could get Sutter, Weber, Franson or Blum. I mean Nashville is a breading ground for awesome defenders, so we'd likely be getting a future #1 guy no matter who we traded for.

We arent getting Suter or Weber thats for sure but I'd love a guy like Franson, Blum, Josi, or Ellis....anyone of those guys would help immensley. I'd trade Filatov + alot for one of them.

I don't think Ellis will be moved for Filatov unless Columbus added picks. Not becasue of a talent gap, but because Filatov has already started his contract, whereas ellis has not, and Filatov has already had issues with one defensive minded coach. Preds would want insurance in the form of a pick I would think.

Maybe Filatov and a 2nd for Blum and a 4th?

It would have to be Suter or Weber for me to even think of sending him to Darth Vader if I were GMSH. I wouldn't mind trading Nik-Fil-A, but there'd have to be something extra nice in return to have the chance for him to light us up 6 times a year (assuming he'd get it together).

That said, judging from the source...

While I know most (if not all) of the stuff he posts is 100% not true, I think some of his rumors are fun to discuss. While i know this deal will never go down, I think it is a fun talking point since Nashville could use a young scorer. I was just curious what it would take to get him.

You are talking about Filatov right? I want some of what you are smoking if you would want Suter or Weber for him.
