I would rather try and get Mike Fisher from Ottawa. They'll be unloading soon enough for prospects and picks I'm sure.

Other teams are interested too which raises the asking price; if Gauthier acquires someone it's a player off the map who won't cost us any prospects or quality picks.

That's actually a good question

I'd prefer someone younger with a lesser cap hit that would leave us some space to add either a winger or another D but i realize that it would be easier said than done.

On ther other hand Armott would indeed be a decent fit and i don't deny it so i won't be pissed if we do land him (unless we overpay).

Thing is we don't know what he is willing to pay for a player, be honest did you expect Gauthier going after Moore and if so paying a 2nd rounder for him?

true, but do we need Arnott as much as we needed Moore last year?

You guys maybe hasn't noticed but going by my username, Edmonton is my other NHL club and Arnott was my favorite player 15 years ago, so I am all for getting Arnott to Montreal.

He has scored 30 goals twice in the last five years...
Think about it.

I like the idea of adding a big center for the 3rd line, and having Pouliot/Desharnais as the wingers... and he'd be a good JM type player. But he hasn't been past the 2nd round since '03, so I'm not sure about his potential playoff contribution.

I guess I wouldn't be against him brought in for something like a mid prospect and a 2nd round (2012) or later pick.

His cap hit might force the Habs to send down Eller to make it fit though, but I could be wrong on that...

I think it makes a lot of sense. Seems like a Gauthier kind of move, get an experience center for the third line instead of putting this pressure on youngsters such as Eller and Desharnais.

Depending on the price, I'm not against the idea. Would give us another big body that likes the front of the net and an experienced presence in the locker room.

If we could somehow manage to include Clarkson in that deal I think it would make us a much tougher team to play against.

Regardless of NJ's bad season, I think he will still be a good pickup for you guys. He has been a lot better this season than most people think. There are better trade options for Montreal, but Arnott isn't a bad idea at all.
