We Have a 90% Chance of Making the Playoffs

Thought this was mildly interesting.

http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL/E...Canadiens.html

I guess they've been pretty accurate the last few seasons come All-Star break. Fun, time-wasting speculation and numbers if nothing else.

Here's to going 33-0 the rest of the way.

The rest of the league is here:
http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL.html

Interesting to note: we will most likely finish 6th or 7th. The (Eastern) team that is most likely to finish 3rd are the Capitals (with Tampa almost as likely) and the team to most likely finish 2nd are, none other than, the Boston Bruins.

Also, it seems that the Leafs still have a chance to make the playoffs.

So far it looks good but I still don't and never trusted Carolina. They scare the **** out of me, however this year we hold the tie breaker so far so that's good news. Hopefully we catch up the Bruins and win our division

This site in general is very good in terms of chances to make the playoffs. It's pretty close to what I would think too, even with Markov and Gorges out. Too many teams in the East nearly took themselves out of the playoffs early in the season with disastrous starts of the season. I mean, the Devils are on a big hot streak... and who the hell cares? I don't remember the last time where I felt that so many games are utterly insignificant for the rankings, I watch the scores at night and it's like "Oh, Florida won against Ottawa? So what". All teams below 9 are nearly sure to be out of the playoffs already.

I'm not worried too much about Carolina because I think the Thrashers are the ones going down. Carolina will likely make the playoffs I think, but Atlanta has been riding on a crazy streak for guys like Byfuglien. The guy was like 1 PPG after 40 games! Then hardly did anything (stat-wise at least, I don't watch many Thrashers game!) in the last 10 and suddenly they lose a lot. These streaks just can't last a whole season. It's a team that's getting there, but isn't there yet, and usually what you see from these teams is that they are very competitive for the first half of the season, but their lack of depth means that once they have injuries or their overused star players get tired, they slow down noticeably and just can't keep up at the end of the season.

For Montreal it's defense-wise that I'm a bit worried for that because we ARE using all our depth right now with Markov and Gorges out, and guys like Hamrlik, Spacek and Gill slow down a lot when they get used too much, but it seems like Subban and Wiz are able to take the top minutes for the team and with the break coming up hopefully the old guys can get enough rest to get us there.

The Bruins just lost Savard again (hope he's ok), so the Habs have a good chance to get that divisional lead.

Savard wasn't doing much to help them anyway. 10 pts in 25 games IIRC. In fact, this just might give them the cap space they need...

so we have a 10% chance of not making the playoffs. That is still pretty high. Get back to me when that number has been reduced to 0% chance of not making the playoffs!

That will probably be late March early April as the Habs got us use to that

15-15-3 gets us 92 points and in the playoffs. 33 points in 33 games. If we can't even handle putting up that pace (currently the pace of the 11th-place Florida Panthers) then we certainly don't deserve anything.

Wins (excluding SO wins) is the tiebreaker after GP, not season series.

He would need to be out for the reminder of the season... which could happen, but with this type of injuries, I don't think it can be decide 4 months or so in advance...

I think it's just a very bad news for them... and, of course, for Savard.

I can't believe Cooke can still skate and collect his NHL paycheck.

Win tonight and we tie for the division lead.

Boston loses tomorrow in regulation, we take the outright division lead heading to the ASG.

Lets get er done!
