It just shows the lack of class that the Islanders Organization has become.
If the Islanders needed a goalie, why did they trade Roloson. You're right that the Islanders have no class.

That team needs a new owner and a new GM, simple as that.

DiPietro was "healthy" when they traded Roli, IIRC. Also, Roloson asked to be traded to a contender, which was granted. Not sure if Garth Snow will extend Nabokov the same courtesy though.

Nabokov wanted to go to Detroit. Detroit wanted Nabokov. Garth Snow stepped into a no-win pile of dog**** because there were only two outcomes for his team: either they look like morons for trying to sign someone who clearly didn't want to be there and causing him to stay home and unemployed, or they look like morons for signing someone who clearly didn't want to be there but he shows up anyways, helps then win a few useless extra games, and moves his team farther down in the draft order. There was no third possibility. End of story.

Yes, the rules are positively asinine, but that's beside the point. The point is that this was a completely brainless moves by a franchise that seems to be doing their best to be even more unlikeable from top to bottom than the gong show that is the Edmonton Oilers. Great company we're in.
Dude lives in Califorina....Nabokov and the Wings knew he had to clear waivers thus a risk of geting picked up by another team...

boo hoo if he can't accept it and maybe he should've signed at the end of the year or never in the KHL

Garth Snow is in the business to make his team better, not to worry about the poor Wings feelings

A 3rd and a 5th for Roloson, which is not too shabby.

The Nabokov claim seems like a 'any publicity is good publicity' stunt.

Something about that is just

I think it's more likely they took a swipe at Nabokov because they want to show Tavares "see .... at least we're trying John!", because it looks a little too obvious that you're tanking when you only have two 20-year-old goalies in the nets.

points for managing to slam the Oilers once again....

but they have nothing to do with the Nabokov fiasco

Ha ha ha ha ha. That's a hoot. Show of hands, who figured that would last more than a week?

OH OH OH! I'll take a stab at what Garth Snow was thinking.

In the unlikely (but still mathematically possible) chance that the New York Islanders go on some kind of miraculous tear... and somehow squeak their way into the playoffs....

... get through 3 rounds of the playoffs...

.. and somehow manage to face DETROIT of all teams in the finals...

This was simply their opportunity to hurt them in goal, because if Nabby ended up beating them in the finals, I'm sure there would be plenty of egg on his face over THAT one.

Seriously.. that's what Garth Snow must have been thinking.

You're sort of right. They're too busy insulting their fans by employing slimeballs like Patrick Laforge and threatening to move.

Ah yes, and apparently you live in the galaxy where the Oilers management isn't stumbling their way towards a second straight DFL finish and 5th straight season out of the playoffs. How's the weather there?

If they're so classless, then please explain to me why they would have that motivation. To screw Detroit? The Wing aren't even in their conference. To piss off Nabokov? They've had no previous issue with him.

Like previously mentioned, Roli did ask them to be moved. I think it's pretty classy of them to give him up and allow him a chance to play for a contender. They didn't have to make that trade.

The only one who's being classless is Nabokov. Heck, even Souray reported to the AHL after his attempt at getting on a top team failed.
