Man they never make anything easy. But I don't know why they didn't count matthias' shot right after Weaver's goal. But one or two shots in the third against a team playing back to back is pathetic.

that is incorrect. because of the rotation on that area pass, frolik was the first F back and had low responsibility. in fact, frolik looked like a lost kid on the first day of school there - he went to the net as the Dman pressured the puck but failed to look around and recognize who his man was (stepan). he was defending nobody when his responsibility was to step up on stepan.

No, you're incorrect, Bill Lindsay on FSFlorida said the same that it was Weiss who was supposed to defend him, and he clearly didn't do that...

Have been in attendance now for Ellerby(vs NYR) and Frolik's(vs NJD) first goals.

Surprisingly the failboat didn't sink tonight.

That was definitely a game that we easily did not deserve to win. The Rangers more than doubled us on shots. I just think Henrik had a rare bad game. Just a very unusual game with guys like Olesz, Ellerby, and Weaver scoring.

are you going to explain to us *why*??? or just quote the great hockey mind billy lindsay?

i'll tell you what's difficult about the play - 1 D was trapped and frolik was essentially the 2nd D. however, that doesn't mean weiss should be playing down low; coverage rotations don't work that way. you will never have 2 F and 1D down low and a D up high. so while weiss could have ridden his guy harder to the net, the reality is that frolik needed to pick up his head up and take the trailer (stepan); there was no danger of the wolski beating wideman or trying a wraparound so frolik didn't need to guard the crease. weiss recognized this as the play moved into FL's zone and dropped off a bit, knowing that once in the zone, with passing angle diminishing, he'd need to peel off and take the slot (usually the job of the 2nd forward back). that is the correct read for the 2nd F back. it's a bit of a wacky situation with only 1D back but watch the replay again - frolik *never* picks his head up and gets caught spinning around flailing. weiss had already let his man go so was late to the party once he saw frolik misread the play. i put this one more on frolik.

It's disappointing to see Frolik and Booth get so little ice time. Understandable tho.

Btw credit to PD ... he called a good timeout and actually vocalized to the troops ... an extremely rare occurrence and glad to see.
