NSH@VAN 01/26/2011 The "Ghetto Superstar" Edition

"We don't have no superstars" Patric Hornqvist... underdog mentality, I like it.

Going with the minimal and getting drunk tonight.

I've actually had this game circled on my calendar for quite a while. Not because of Hamhuis necessarily, but because of how good this Canucks team is and what all went down last year/two years ago between these two teams. I'm interested to see if there is still same bad blood remaining.

This game reminds me of the time...well...There I was in Vancouver, formerly Fort Vancouver, trying to find one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass or Patric wouldn't go on the ice that night. So, Shea Weber pops his hear 'round the corner and mentions that there's a little sweet shop out on the edge of town. So, we go. And it's closed.

So there's me, Barry Trotz and Belak trying to break into this little sweet shop. Well, instead of a guard dog they've got this bloody great big Bengal tiger! I managed to take care of the tiger with a can of mace, but the shop keeper and his son were a different story altogether. Belak had to beat them to death with his own skates. Nasty business really. But sure enough we got the brown M&Ms, Patric hit the ice and played a great game.

Here's to random craziness, brown M&Ms and a Preds victory.

Hey guys, really stoked for the game tonight!

There are lots of background stories going on (Hamhuis vs O'Brien, Burrows last year, Bieksa getting stepped on by a Predator, etc) and I want to see how many of them are still going to be there.

Hoping for an intense matchup, I've got tickets to see Canucks & Preds the next time they come to Vancouver.

I'm also hoping that Edler takes a few notes from Weber & Suter

I hate that I have to miss this one. Hopefully the guys look at this game as a barometer game and bring their "A" game. Even if we don't win this will have been a good road trip, win and this becomes a great road trip.

I'm sorry, you have formed that statement incorrectly... it's

We're going to get our butt's obliterated.

and I like Johnius' thought process, it's pretty much going to take Twilight Zone portions of random crazy for us to pull this one out but to quote Angel's in the Outfield, "Hey, it could happen".

Our only hope that Hamhuis has one of those game where he gives it up as often as Snookie.

Really? He hasn't done that for us at all this year.

We have beaten good teams this year. Vancouver is good, but so are we. I'm not so much worried as I am curious as we haven't seen these guys yet. And the Hamhuis comment was a joke about his play in Nashville last season. Maybe he'll see our uniforms and revert back to that kind of play for the night.

mixed feelings about this game, kinda like being with a new love and running into the one that got away. i guess if the nucks lose it's right on preds. go get those wings, and if the nucks win, yeah, two more points.

either way i hope Obie has a good game. he's still quite popular with vancouver players. bieksa made a couple of funnies about him and Obie made a couple himself in separate interviews.

MG & AV have also made jokes. I guess they all realize that it's just in the name of business.

Yeah I remember that one, a game vs Buffalo, I missed it unfortunately. That being said, it was his only bad game of the year so I'm happy.

I think we're going to kick their $##!

Team looked slightly mentally tired the last two games. Now with a couple days to recharge, and some back-stories and the team wanting to do well for those as well as wanting the win, I think it's going to be a great, hard hitting game. A Predators type of game that we usually come out favorably in.

I hate these west coast starting times, the day is too long! Drop the puck!

Edler is out tonight with back spasms so we're missing our #1 and one bottom pairing guy as well as our injury fill in so we've got two call ups in the lineup (one's 4th game in the NHL, one's 1st).

Apparently no Edler for the Canucks tonight... tiny Lee Sweatt making his NHL debut:

Dude is about 5'8

Most likely with Bieksa but because we're missing Edler, Alberts & Rome we aren't sure.

How do I know this isn't a true story?

Fort Vancouver is the site of Vancouver, Washington, USA not Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. BUSTED.

I normally can't watch these late games in their entirety because of the time difference and my work but Thursdays I don't need to go to work quite so early so I should be able to watch this entire game.

Let's go Preds!

So our GD thread is still on page one, where the 'nucks are on 6 or so..... and half the posts here are from 'nucks fans...... let's hope the effort from our boys is more equal! :-)
