Yah, a lot of people have speculated that (mostly Canadiens fans). I can just sit here and pray to God it doesn't happen.

Not really high on Kaberle. Something about the fact that he seems content playing on a loser for so long makes me question his desire.

Maybe he's really loyal to the team, loves the city, or his family is really happy living here. Who knows. I don't think you can state that he has no desire because he's stayed with the Leafs. He probably hates losing as much as the next guy.

Hell, I hate watching a losing team, but that doesn't mean that I'll start cheering for Philly or Pittsburgh.

With the injuries Montreal has on the blueline. We have absolutely no use for a rental as we are not cup contending. If Kaberle agreed to a sign and trade than I would offer our first and a prospect not named Pacoiretty, Subban or Eller.

If Burke isn't looking to re-sign him, I'd trade Kaberle for a 1st round pick and an Alex Avtsin.

I'd settle for a 1st rounder + Weber, or a 1st + 3rd.

Well, let me tell you that having been initially disgusted to see Komisarek wear a Leafs jersey, you eventually can get over it!

hmmm....

What do you classify a losing team as?
iginla
Alfredsson
Rick Nash

like these types of players?

Players stay because they are passionate about their team. If Kaberle wants to stay, i say re-sign him. If he wants to go trade him to whomever gives the best offer. One thing is for sure though i think burke has a serious talk to Kaberle during the break, and the two of them decide what Kab's and the leafs want to do. I say that Kab's wants to stay, the leafs make a minor move in moving lebda and they move beauch.

If he did get traded I think it would be for a prospect, Burke seems to like players more then picks

Honeslty...I hope Kaberle stays put and later signs with T.O..

And for my Habs...I really want to see Leblanc wear the CH one day (liked everything I saw from watching him live twice with the Juniors de Montreal, and also liked him at the WJC, although wished of course Canada pulled off the victory! always next year!).

Pacioretty...could be that 25-25 player the Habs needed since awhile...hard to trade him now!

Some team will (maybe) overpay for Kaberle...I hope it's not my Habs.

It'll be exciting to see what happens to Kaberle...

That's why he'll probably retire in Toronto.

The Habs dont need Kaberle. They already have puck movers. They need a huge stay at home kind of guy.

What does it matter if the Leafs trade him within the division? At this point for Toronto they should be looking at whatever the best possible return is for them, its not like they have a chance at the playoffs and should be worrying about improving a divisional rival. As for the topic the Habs need a stay at home defenseman who can kill penalties more than another puck moving defenseman.

How about we treat the whole Habs team to a steak dinner if you take and keep Komi?

Because Burke has proven over and over again in the last couple of years that he's asking for the moon for Kaberle, reason why he's still in Toronto to start with.

Trading to Montreal, Burke would want even more with the risk of him "trying" Montreal and liking it, therefore resigning there.

That and I'm convinced that the Habs won't part with a key prospect who is not a trouble-maker (read Grabovski) to their division rival. I know, I know, Boston did. But this is Montreal we're talking about.

Not sure other Leafs fans would agree with you but that's a big yes from Montreal only if you agree that the 2nd rounder is a 2012 since our 2011 belongs to the NYI in the Wiz trade a couple of weeks ago

I like Kaberle, but not that much I'd take a shot at him in the off season if he hasn't agreed on a new contract in Toronto before getting rid of such young players who have a future in Montreal in the next couple of years

He is so bad right now, I honestly wouldn't even trade Gomez 1-1 for Komisarek. Komisarek took advantage of a great year in Montreal, named to the ASG and played along side Markov who made him look good on most nights. Then Lucic kind of ruined him

I highly doubt Kaberle gets the Leafs anything close to that but maybe he does. Tough call. The market has not been defined yet but will be soon. No offence to Kabs or his ability nor any offence to Leaf fans either. If the shoe were on our foot I'd likely ask for this as well but he's now a rental only. Last year with 1 year remaining on his contract meant his value was higher since that would give rival GM's 1 year to negotiate to a new deal. Resigning him beyond his rental status makes him far more risky an acquisition. A conditional deal would probably be better suited for the Leafs. I could see a Blake Wheeler and a 3rd (becomes a 2nd if Boston inks him) type of deal only in the Leafs cards. Interesting conversation though. We can revisit this thread when the deal goes down to compare our opinions and theories with what transpires.

This is a tough one to gauge. Good luck Toronto and to Burke to get the best market value. Leaf fans should hope for a cut throat competitive market and rival GM's hittin' the booze. Too bad Darryl Sutter left I have a feeling that Florida, Edmonton, New Jersey, The New York Islanders and Ottawa and who they might move out (Eg. Phillips) might bring down a better Kabs return.
