Carle/Coburn to Anaheim (offseason)

Ducks fan coming in peace.

I was just wondering if either could be traded this offseason and what would it take from the ducks to make it happen.

Which one does Anaheim need more? A decent stay-at-home defenseman who skates like the wind, or a decent puck moving defenseman?

We need more of a stay at home guy to play with fowler till sbisa is a little older.

Sry but there is no way you guys are getting sbisa back. He has easily been our 4th best defender but Carlyle (and rightfully so) won't play a 19 and 20 year old together on the second pairing.

fowler-sbisa is the future if the ducks defense bassuming they both keep progressing.

We cannot really give up any offensive prospects since we have practically none but Clark/mitera + 2nd sounds good to me

You won't get Coburn for that package, if this is what you mean.

I'd be hesitant to move him at all, he is pretty much the perfect partner for Timonen.
IMO the Flyers should move Carle and keep Coburn.
So the offer for Coburn has to entice them enough to keep Carle over Coburn.

I would say it's a first round pick in 2011 and Gardiner.
That sounds like a lot, but I'm not even sure I would give up Coburn for this, because we want to win now and well after this season and I doubt that this package would help us more. Also, Coburn is signed to a pretty decent caphit.

So insane 2 first round picks forn1 year of a stay at home defenseman who would be our #4?

Sry but that sounds a little crazy to me but idk maybe it's just me.

Anyone else have an opinion. I'd be willing to package one of our mid defensive prospects (anyone not named gardiner sbisa fowler or vatanen) plus picks or our 2011 1st but nothing more then a first. It just seems like overpayment. I'm not completely sure but after you sign everyone would the flyers have to trade one of these 2?

The Flyers won't have to trade anybody. They only have one major piece to resign - Leino - and he's rumored to be resigning a multi-year deal shortly in the mid 2's. Very doable, particularly with a cap increase.

Being as I think Coburn and Carle are valuable pieces on the backend, I want to trade neither of them.

Considering that the new contracts of Carter and Giroux kick in and Leino will be resigned, I believe that one of Coburn/Carle are on their way out. If one of them has to be traded, I'd rather trade Carle, and I'm pretty sure we'll get a pretty good return for him, considering how he's played the last two years with us.
If you want Coburn, you gotta pay. Just a first won't help the Flyers now and probably not in the future, since it's not likely that this pick will ever become as good as a player Coburn is.

At this stage, I'd probably keep Carle over coburn.

I don't think they will have to trade either. If the cap goes up and Leino is signed for that cheap, everyone will be back except Zherdev. The following year, I think they will dump Hartnell to resign both Carle and Coburn. I doesn't make sense to dump a defenseman under 27 when you have two above 36 years old. Also, if I was going to trade one, IMO Carle, it would be with Columbus not Anaheim. Columbus desperately needs a puck moving defenseman. Their pick will be better in the draft and you might be able to steal Voracek.

Your welcome to Matt Walker. We'll even throw in Oskars Bartulis.

Matt Carle you could get for the first round pick I think. Coburn, I don't think you are willing to give up what it would take to get him. Anytime there is a guy you really want on our roster, there is a reason for that. Same reason we want to keep him. So, they would have to overpay to get Homer to send him out of town. Carle, perhaps he gets moved.....but I honestly don't think so.

Throw Bobby Ryan somewhere and I'll consider it. Otherwise, not really interested in what's so far proven to be one of the top defensive 6's in the league.

Not moving Coburn or Carle for futures.

Coburn has the size and speed to match-up with the Ovechkins of the world. That's not easily irreplaceable.

Matt Carle is currently leading all NHL defenseman in points at even strength. He's also shown that he can play well even when not alongside Pronger.

i'm glad i'm not the only one that salivates at the thought of bobby ryan playing in philadelphia.

i highly doubt homer moves either of coburn or carle. when pronger and timonen pack up and leave/retire in a few short seasons, homer's banking on these guys to step up to be the number one pairing (along with meszaros if he continues to have success here).

I'd love to have Ryan, but the Ducks would expect more than either Coburn/Carle.

The way I see it, the teams are just not good partners for trading. The pieces the Flyers would want are probably the pieces the Ducks wouldn't deal.
