Matt Walker (PHI) and Ales Kotalik (CGY) [both clear]
Would be more impressive if he could do that in an actual hockey game.
If Hemsky were healthy and if we didn't have so many wingers I'd have to say maybe the Oil make a call. But hemsky isn't healthy and we have too many wingers.
Flames should add incentive and say they'll send a gift basket (possible a "Get Well" one as well later down the road) to the team who the team who picks Kotalik up.
Trade doesn't have to be imminent on the Flyers front. This allows them to bank extra cap space as well. Not a ton, mind you, but every penny might count later on.
This gives them space to acquire something like a 3.6 million dollar contract without losing anyone else from the roster.
His contract alone is gross, and then you see him on the ice and it's worse.
We haven't seen anywhere close to the best of Walker. He missed most of the year due to injury, it isn't like he was going to step on the ice and play at a high level right away.
I understand the antipathy towards him as he was essentially the negligent return from Gagne, but he hasn't been given a fair chance by the fanbase. Not that I'm saying he's a 1.7 million dollar defenseman (who the hell gave him that contract anyway? That's as bad as the Jones contract).
the allstar game is usually a place where gms talk trades and now homer has the room to work something of value. the question is who is out there at 3.6 with an expiring contract who the flyers could reasonably deal for?

If you look at the standings and only regard pure playoff-upgrading, New Jersey, the Islanders, Toronto, Florida and Ottawa in the East and only Edmononton in the West are really out of the playoffs at this point.
New Jersey has nothing I'd want.
NYI: Moulson
Toronto: Kaberle, Giguere
Florida: Stillman, Dvorak, Higgins, Reasoner, Vokoun
Ottawa: Ruutu
Edmonton: Jones
