2 expirings and a high pick? Backstrom is overpaid yes but top six forward and legit starting goaltender is pretty good for one pick. Ill throw in a 3rd.

RUMOR: The Leaves will probably win the cup in 2012 anyway so it isn't a lottery pick. e5

Burke is somewhat hamstrung. He has very little that anyone wants and almost anything that the other GMs do want, he wants to keep.

The only pices that Im sure are on the block are:

-Giguere
-Kaberle
-Komisarek
-Leb duh
-Sjostrom
-Mitchell

Aside from Kaberle, there really isnt any "WOW!" factor to any of those guys.

Since you can see it, any interest in actually putting names & picks into that vision, or is it merely a view of those teams doing a, ahem, "huge 3 way"?

Whatever bro, how many times have we heard "Burke's going to do this, Burke's going to do that." Wake me up when it happens. Burke is going to do three things, 1. stay white 2. watch his team stink 3. eventually die.

I swear to God. These better be some damn good trades Burke is looking at. Full on rebuild seems like the only way out now.

He better not trade Schenn / Kessel / Kardi / 1st any year. Other than that I'm fine.

May be Richards is coming to town?

Listen man, I have a hard time believing The Monster or Giggy will backstop you a Cup run. There is a reason Burke is looking for a different netminder. Is Backstrom overpaid? After 2010 playoffs, almost every goalie is. For a team like the Wild who is mediocre with little cap space, of course I included him for relief but it doesn't mean he is awful. His stats aren't so bad when you weigh in the incompetent / untalented / slow defensemen in front of him.

By the way, I'm suggesting a second, not a first.

Don't know why but I see a trade for Stastny and/or Penner. Also a relatively good goalie like Vokoun.

It was the only way out 3 years ago too and he screwed that up fairly quickly.

why the hell would they give up anything for Vokoun when they can sing him at the end of the year... unless ofcourse the Leafs are gearing up for a playoff run!

I could see Burke dangle our 2nd for Backstrom, and I would like that deal.

Why not a legitimate rebuild a la Capitals or the Penguins? Starting with drafting Nail Yakupov (or some other young, budding prospect) next year?

Who am I kidding....

For the fact Kadri has star potential - Burke can't move him - because if he does develop Burke will be the laughing stock of the entire NHL. Not that he isn't now but it'll be even harder to shake that tag.

Burke needs to deal from the fringes Jussi Rynnas, D'Amigo, Beauchimen, Sjorstrom, Giguere, Caputi, Hanson, etc.

He needs to find a player out of favor and ante up a package of prospects. Anything else - dealing top picks and prospects - and it can/will backfire on him like the Kessel deal.

Ideally he'd stop looking for a top line center/winger and realize he doesn't have the assets - settling instead for a capable 2nd/3rd liner. Getting some NHL bodies in here to replace Crabb, Brent, Boyce would be a start.

For the love of god, we need an intervention. The league has to pass a new rule that the Leafs are not allowed to trade any draft picks or young players under the age of 24 for the next 10 years.

I am so sick of the movie groundhog day. I can't take it anymore. Trade assets for picks not vice versa. See you 2013 / 2014

I would also be on board with that Backstrom is a legit #1 goalie
